General Electric Washer Water Inlet Valve Assembly
Disconnect both water hoses from washing machine.
Remove two screws (one on each side) from upper silver colored metal plate on back of washer to allow access to (blue) water inlet valve.
Slightly lift the bottom portion of metal plate and slide to release hooks for easy removal.
Pull back and tilt forward plastic control panel to get it out of your way.
Disconnect two electrical connections (one on each side) of water inlet valve. One of these came off easily but the other one was stubborn and I had to force it off with a screw driver. If there is an easier way I don't know what it is.
Remove two screws from water inlet valve. (one on each side)
Gently pull up on stainless steel water temperature sensor located in the middle of the water inlet control valve. It has a black wire connected to it so be careful.
Once you have disconnect the sensor you can remove the water inlet valve.
If you look closely you will see a small blue O-ring in the hole where you removed the water temp sensor from the water inlet valve.
The new valve DOES NOT come with a replacement O-ring so you
will have to re-use the old one. I used a small jeweler's screwdriver to get the old out of the hole.
Don't forget to install the O-ring or your washer WILL leak!
Put everything back together in reverse order.
Check hose connections for leaks.
Hope this helps somebody. Wish I had known about the O-ring. It would have saved me a headache. Read more...

Cold water dripping inside of washer from inlet valve
Turn off hot and cold water supply valves feeding washer.Disconnect both water hoses from washing machine.

Water would not stop running in to tub even when unplugged.
Removed the two 1/4" hex screws (one on each side of the control panel). Lifted the control panel off and let it hang behind the washer. Removed the connector on each side of the valve assembly. Removed the two 1/4" hex screws on the valve assembly and lifted the assembly out. Reversed the process to install.

Water was dripping into the detergent tray when the unit was off.
Removed the control panel back plate cover. Removed the 3 screws that held the water control valve in place. I then unplugged each solenoid one at a time and plugged it into the new control valve. Once all wires were transferred, I pulled the old valve up and put the new valve on. Then reinstalled the screws that held it down and reinstalled the cover plate. Very simple job !

Unplug electricity, unscrew 3 bolts with nutdriver from rear of top panel, expose triple valve, remove 2 screws from existing valve, turn water off & remove hose from triple valve, remove outlet hose attached to the valve,install new valve with 2 screws & replace outlet hose, attach hot/cold hoses, replace top part of washer with the 3 screws,plug in electricity & turn on the hot & cold water, that's it.

You’ll need a #2 Philips screwdriver & a standard set of pliers.
UNPLUG ELECTRIC SUPPLY FROM WASHER, TURN OFF WATER VALVES, THEN DISCONNECT WATER LINES & DRAIN HOSE. Pullout the detergent dispenser drawer. Remove 2 self-tapping screws and & 3 sheet metal screws. Slide front control panel to the right and let it rest on the machine. Remove 3 sheet metal screws to release the top lid cover. Pull the lid towards you and lift off. You’ll see water inlet valves in the left rear. Remove Philips head screws securing water inlet valve. Disconnect electrical wires from the water inlet valve solenoids. Using pliers, squeeze hose clamps and slide down small hoses. Pull off or twist the small hoses from the old water inlet valve. Install the small hoses onto the new Walter inlet valve and reconnect electrical harness to water inlet valve solenoids. Mount new water inlet valve, reconnect water supply hoses & turn on water supply. Check for any leaks before going any further. If no leaks, reinstall top lid & front panel. CONTROL PANEL IS DIFFICULT TO LINE UP WHEN SLIDING IT TO THE LEFT TO REINSTALL. LINE UP THE SLOTS FOR THE SCREWS WHEN REINSTALLING THE CONTROL PANEL. Squealing Water Valve When Water Is Filling Washer Tub
Sediment in your water will ruin these water inlet valves over time. It will reduce the amount of water filling the tub & will be very noisy making a squealing sound. You’ll need a #2 Philips screwdriver & a standard set of pliers.

The washer stop and blinks in the RINSE MODE
I called a repair person to check my 15 months old GE front loader washer that stopped in rinse mode. After his inspection he said it was a deffected computer board and it would be very expensive to replace the 3 computers boards inside and it would be cheaper to buy a new top loader washer. The next day I lifted the top cover and found a taped plastic envelope with instructions titled “For service Technicians Only." On page 2, instruction on to how to enter the washer in to service mode and to test the washer:Press : Signal, Delay, Signal, Delay (within 30 seconds of plug in washer)

water continues to flow into washer when switch is turned off and even unplugged.
Unplug electrical cord from outlet. Turn off water and remove supply hoses from back of unit.Remove three screws from rear of control panel, slide panel slightly to right to disengage connecting flange. You now have access to inside of control panel. Remove two screws holding water valve to machine, remove clamp holding single fill hose from valve. unplug the three electrical plugs connecting the valve. Reverse order with new part from part select. Easy, replacement part was an exact replica of old one.

machine would not fill on any cycle requiring hot water, Machine would work fine on cold cycles
I Disconnected power to machine and shut off water supply lines. Move washer away from wall and removed supply lines.(good time to replace them if older than five years) Where these supply lines attach to the washer is the water valve you are replacing. There are 3 screws on the back of the cabinet lid, then on the front 3 more screws hold the lid to the plastic control housing. After removing screws you need to slide the lid up and towards the back of the machine app. 1 1/2"to 2" before you can raise the lid up and off of the machine. Once the lid is off it is just one screw holding the valve, and a hose clamp that needs removed from the end of the valve. Then slide valve to the right (looking from front of machine to the back.) I left the wires attached to the old valve,installed the new valve then reattached the wires in the same order as they were on the old valve to avoid confusion. (note valve must slide into place to get screw to line up.)assemble is reverse of the above steps. Don't forget to level machine. Be careful attaching water supply lines plastic valve threads can strip without much effort.
