Drain Valve Shaft Seal
★★★★★

PartSelect Number PS263930
Manufacturer Part Number WD8X181
The drain valve shaft seal is a part for your dishwasher drain pump valve. This seal creates a watertight closure around the flapper valve shaft. This part can be accessed through the access panel at the front for a built-in. For a portable dishwasher, consider disconnecting and unplugging the taps and lay on a blanket to access the bottom of the machine. This will need to be replaced if you notice leaking coming from the pump. This part measures approximately 3/8 inches in diameter and is black in color. This is a genuine OEM part that comes right from the manufacturer.

Water leak from gate (diverter) valve shaft
This was a fairly simple repair. After disconnecting power to the dishwasher and removing the panel below the door, first had to remove a retainer C clip from the gate valve shaft. Then disconnected the linkage from the gate valve solenoid, removed two return springs and slid the gate valve contol arm off the shaft. Then removed the solenoid bracket that was fastened to the housing by 2 screws. This allowed access to the push on nut on the valve shaft. Removed the old push on nut which exposed the leaking seal. Removed the bad seal, then moistened and carefully slid on and seated the new drain valve shaft seal. Affixed new push on nut. Reinstalled the above mentioned parts that were removed. Problem solved - no more leak. Total cost $18.81 for factory GE parts plus $6.95 shipping. Thank you PartSelect. Read more...

No washing action during the wash cycle, the machine still filled and drained
The installation is fairly straightforward, basically one plug in electrical connection and two plumbing connections. The smaller of the two plumbing connections can be tricky because of the hose clamp... The original clamps are one time use crimp style. The replacements are standard hose clamps, which means the section where the tension mechanism is, is a bit wider than the clamp itself... This can cause the rubber collar on the dishwasher to slide off/separate from the pump part itself when tightening the hose clamp. If you are careful and align things just right, it will work like a charm. The best advice I have is to take your time and make sure the connections are snug without being too tight, otherwise it could leak and/or something else could break. Read more...

sump inlet was partially dissolved
Disconnected electrics,plumbing, and removed DW.
Replaced sump inlet by removing about four clamps.
The inlet was partially dissolved. I think what lead to this is a partial clog, of broken glass and plastic. DW works fine.

excessively delayed delivery
I couldn't do the repair because the parts arrived a week after I left, even though I paid extra for speedy delivery. And there was ZERO customer support - the phone message said they would not answer the phone, and the email response was a generic FAQ. Read more...

Leak from the bottom center
The connector pump had a pinhole leak at the seam (new part did not have seams). Also replaced the sump inlet which looked worn and the impeller.

Lay dishwasher on it's back to access the bottom. Loosen all clamps. Remove both U shaped holders on the sump inlet. Remove screws holding the drain motor. Pull out the pump motor and sump inlet. Connector pump can be unscrewed from the bottom.

Replace parts and reassemble. It isn't that bad once you start disassembly, especially for anyone somewhat handy.

Water Not Draining.
There are videos on YouTube that demonstrate the repair process better than I can type. I will say I'm not certain why the dishwasher wasn't draining other than when I removed the chamber collection and repositioned the ball filter it would work as it should until the next time. Replacing the sump, chamber collection, and ball filter was a shot in the dark. The tub insulation was an improvement on noise. The first cycle seemed to be draining water better. Overall the removal and installation of the parts was not difficult. Read more...
