When we closed the door, it would only beep 3 times, over and over
I watched the video on how to replace the parts and it was very easy. Unplug the power cord, remove the kick plate and insulation. Remove the small square metal cover, remove the 2 screws that hold the control board plate. Unplug the wires, put the control board plate on the counter and replace the board. Then put everything back in the order that you removed it. Plug in the power cord. Very easy to fix. I ordered the door latch but didn't need it so I will just keep it as a spare. It took me less than 45 minutes to replace the part. The problem was the control board. Parts select saved me about 400.00. Thanks, John. Read more...

Most of the lights on the control panel had stopped working. There was no way to change the settings of the dishwasher.
When the part arrived, I was pretty sure it was the wrong part. The replacement part had an LED on it -- a box that stuck up about an inch above the circuit board. My dishwasher did not have an LED readout and I was pretty sure the LED would not fit in the space that was available. I was reluctant to take the dishwasher apart until I had the right part. The people at Part Select were helpful and together we looked at the schematic which did, indeed, seem to show a box sticking up from the circuit board. A YouTube video showed me how to take the door off its hinges, unscrew 4 screws and slide the inside of the door upwards. The circuit board went in fairly easily. There was space for the LED (even though it still doesn't show through the top) and now the lights work. Read more...

Water would not drain.
The washer ran through a full cycle, but the water didn't drain out. I pulled out the drain vent and checked for foreign objects. Also checked at the drain hose/disposal joint and there was no blockage. After removing the bottom panels I noticed the solenoid was shot. Cylinder was burnt up and stuck solid in the up position. I went online and found that a main cause of this can be from the timer causing the solenoid to over exert and burn out. I decided if I was going to order parts and dig into a repair I should replace both. For the timer it is just a matter of unscrewing the inner door panel and unplugging the old timer. Then inserting new one. Couple of things I ran into were the door is no longer heavy enough to stay down so I grabbed a waffle iron as a weight to hold it down. Also will need to unscrew the set screw on the Door lock latch's bottom side. Pay close attention to how it was together helps. For the solenoid I removed the main screws holding the unit in place as well as the c-clip holding the plastic arm. Undo the spring and plug and the whole unit comes out. Reverse these steps with the new solenoid to install. Read more...

Dishwasher Wouldn't Start
The original problem was that the dishwasher wouldn't start or respond to any button presses. The Clean light stayed on consistently, but nothing else would happen.

I replaced the main board and control board, which really just involved taking apart the door, unplugging three wires, replacing the boards, then plugging the three wires back in.

After I did that and plugged everything back in, the Clean light flashed, and the dishwasher started beeping. It wouldn't respond to any controls, aside from the fact that pressing the Start button stopped the beeping.

Symptoms:
- Just replaced Control Board
- Clean light blinks
- Start button stopped beeps
- No other buttons did anything

Resolution: re-read the instructions that came with the board.

There's a step that says "Transfer model selector plug to the new control board". If you look on your old main board, right by the power connection is a plug that you're supposed to remove from the old board and put on the new board.

I had originally skimmed through the instructions thinking "this looks super easy", so I didn't look at it in detail until I had a problem.

Dishwasher works perfectly now.

Control module went out - causing the heating element to super heat, melting several of the plastic interior parts
I replaced the control module, and effected plastic interior parts - tested wihout heat, then re-tested with heat dry - performed beautifully. This is a pretty expensive unit that would cost around $1500 to replace new. And, Sears wanted $1500 to repair, so I saved a bunch doing it myself for about $350. Read more...

Heater Element not working, but not broken
Dishwasher would not activate heating element to dry dishes, but element still has continuity. Determined main board was not supplying voltage to element. Remove front cover, disconnect power leads, disconnect and then drop down main board (held up by two screws). Reverse to install. Unfortunately the main board didn't correct the problem. It's not the thermostat either and the thermistor doesn't fail self diagnostics. Oh well, gambled and lost, new dishwasher time. Read more...
