Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This transmission assembly, also known as a gear case or platform bearing retainer, is a genuine replacement component designed for use in GE washing machines and compatible models from Hotpoint, Haier, Monogram, and Café. It plays a critical role in the washer’s operation by driving the impeller for agitation, rotating the inner tub during the spin cycle, and shifting between wash and spin modes. This part is a functional equivalent to older assemblies and ensures smooth mechanical transitions throughout the wash process. Symptoms of a failing transmission include lack of agitation or spinning, loud grinding or banging noises, oil leakage, and incomplete cycles. Installation should be performed with the power disconnected and appropriate safety precautions in place. Sold individually.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money

When washer is in spin cycle, it is really loud. Will this part #WH03X33729 solve my problem?
For model number GTW460ASJ8WW
Hello Steve, thank you for contacting us. A faulty platfrom bearing retainer, part number PS16729509, is indeed a probable culprit. Before replacing that we would recommend inspecting the clutch assembly, part number PS11729473. It can also be a source of noise during spin. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you require assistance placing an order. Thanks again for reaching out!
WHEN AGITATING IN RUNS FINE IN 1 DIRECTION AND GRINDS IN THE OTHER DIRECTION LIKE A GEAR MISSING TEETH OR A CLUTCH NOT RELEASING FULL.WASH MACHINE STILL WASHES CLOTHES NORMALLY

Hi Gary, thank you for contacting us. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would suggest checking the clutch, part number PS11729473, to solve the problem. We hope that helps!
We have a spinning issue. We have changed the clutch, spring, belt, rod and springs. Did the diagnosis tests and put in a new control board. Everything worked great for about a week. But a large load goes instantly unbalanced. And a medium load won't spin. It'll make the noise like it's doing something and it's not. If I remove almost everything it'll spin fine. Is this the part that's wrong?

Hi Sonya, thank you for contacting us. Yes, the issue could be with the transmission assembly, part number PS16729509, as you have already replaced all the necessary parts. We hope this solves your problem!

After a wash load finished, my wife found the agitator had come loose. The softener compartment was off and the agitator was no longer connected to the washer at the base. The bolt at the base of the tub has a nut holding it down, but it’s not long enough to go through the agitator to be bolted from inside the agitator. I can’t figure out if the bolt is broken off or how to reattach it. The agitator seems to be in one piece so I can’t take it apart to remove the base and see anything.

Hi Todd, thank you for the question. Based on the description you have provided, it seems that there is an issue with the washer's screw, part number PS11759130. You may need to replace it to resolve the problem. We have found the instructions to install the screw. These may not be of the same model, but will help you in installation. You may need to follow these steps:
1.) Unplug your washer from its power source.
2.) Open up the washer door.
3.) Remove the agitator by gently pulling.
4.) Locate the agitator coupling screw.
5.) Use the nut driver to remove the screw.
6.) Use your hands, twist the screw back into position where the previous one was.
7.) Use the nut driver to tight the screw.
We hope this information helps!
Unit is making loud metallic squeak during agitation cycle. Spins fine, and replaced belt 2 days ago. Looking at the parts diagram this appears to be the most likely culprit. Am I on the right trail.

Washer is not agitating. Have already replaced the clutch. Mode shifter seems to be fine. (It raises clutch when in agitation test cycle.) What is next? Transmission assembly?
For model number GTW460ASJ7WW
Hello Ken, thank you for getting in touch. We would recommend checking the agitator for any damages or malfunctioning. If it is working fine, then you may need to check the transmission, part number PS16729509, to solve the problem. We hope this helps.

Grinding sound while in agitation mode. I pulled the cover off the bottom to check and see if the clutch had been broken or ground down. I discovered oil all over the parts under that cover.

My GE washer started making a loud noise only while it’s spinning the water out of the clothes would the bearing platform be the cause of this? It agitates and washes normally but the noise seems to get louder as we do more laundry thanks.
For model number GTW335ASN1WW
Hi Cory, thank you for reaching out. The drum bearings allow the drum to spin smoothly. If they are worn or damaged, the drum may make loud noises while spinning. The bearing comes attached to the gearcase, part number PS16729509. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!
