Product Description

CLUTCH Specifications

This is a clutch for your washing machine. The clutch is made of a white plastic material and is used within washing machines to engage and disengage the transmission during the wash and spin cycles, and ultimately help spin the basket of the tub so your clothes finish damp and not soaked. If your washer has issues with spinning or agitating, this part is likely broken or has worn out, and will need to be replaced. To replace this part, some disassembly of your washer will be required, and tools like a screwdriver and socket wrench will be needed. This clutch is sold as an individual and does not come with any other parts.

Transmission tested bad. Would not agitate back & forth.
Remove agitator, had to cut out the top half. It would not twist out. Remove the bottom plate of the agitator. Remove the 33 mm bolt from the spindle. (impact wrench) Underneath remove water pump, clutch solenoid, motor and transmission pulley. Remove eight bolts holding transmission. Pull transmission down and disconnect the wiring harness. Reinstall new transmission and replace components. Test machine after installing agitator bottom plate before adding top half of agitator. Just in case there was a problem. Machine is running well!!!

needed mode selector, and gears replaced
year and a half old unit.
The Mode selector failed to properly engage the gears and gears were grinding.
O moved dryer out of area. And then turned off water, disconnected the hoses from wall. Placed hoses including drain hose into 5-gallon bucket and clamped so they would stay. I then moved washer away from wall about 2'. Then tipped it back against wall. Used 2x4 to keep it there as a support. (Doing this allowed me to keep it in the area and not dump water on floor. Then removed the gear guard, gears and mode selector. Reinstalled all parts and packed gears with synthetic grease made for plastic. It is now working like new. Parts were exact match. Took 30 minutes. Also cleaned the dryer vet line while I had it apart.

Plastic gear worn and belt stretched from usage
first disconnect the electric power cord. Disconnect the incoming water lines. Tip washer up or better yet flat on the floor where bottom is completely exposed. Remove bolts holding guard over belt and motor. remove bolts [2] holding clutch arm into plastic bearing, remove old belt will slide off pulley, remove bolt holding pulley to shaft, calls for a puller but I applied pulling pressure while working back and froth; no problem but could have been. chance clutch bearing and reverse the process to working order. I would recommend wearing cloth or vinyl gloves once the guards are removed for the pulley and old belt has a lubricant that is somewhat messy but cleans up easy.

washer would make noise when it was spinning and sometime it would not spin out
I contacted parts select and entered washer information and asked them if they thought they would now what the problem was and and they responded with a answer and also a list of two parts that they thought might take care of the problem. I ordered the parts, looked on u tube to see how to change them and replaced both parts .I think the clutch was good but the drive belt was stretched and needed replaced.Know it works great.

loud squeaking noise like a bearing going bad
For model number GTW685BPL1DG
PartSelect logo
Hello Rufus, thank you for contacting us. The most probable culprits of the issue are the bearing retainer platform, part number PS16729511, the clutch, part number PS11729473, and the transmission pulley, part number PS16226205. We hope this sorts out your problem!

My washer makes a little noise but the flor is covered in grease. When I jiggle the pulley the bottom part has movement but I don’t see any play in the shaft that the clutch attaches too. Does the clutch have grease in it? Or is it coming from the bearing
For model number Gtw460asj6ww
PartSelect logo
Hi Brian, thank you for reaching out. The grease is inside the gearcase transmission, part number PS16729509, and from that part, grease comes out. The noise produced in the washer may be due to the drive belt, part number PS11767488, and the clutch, part number PS11729473. We hope this information is useful!

Washer agitator pulls going clockwise but sometimes slips when going counterclockwise is this the clutch
For model number GTW685BSL0WS
PartSelect logo
Hi Timothy, thank you for reaching out. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend tightening the agitator bolt. If it does not help, you may need to check the agitator base hybrid assembly, part number PS16743416, to fix this issue. We hope this solves your problem!

My washer is not agitating. It takes in water and spins correctly, however the agitator spins freely in both directions when turned by hand and does not wash the clothes in it. Please help
For model number GTW335ASN0WW
PartSelect logo
Hi Randall, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our research, if the agitator is fine, the issue could be with the transmission assembly, part number PS16729509. It drives the agitator and spins the basket in the washer. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

The clothes in the washer often end up still soaking wet at the end of a cycle. Our washer does not start the final spin cycle. It usually starts spinning, makes some clicking sounds and does not continue. It will then start to fill like it is off balance. The load inside should not cause an off-balance. We've replaced the transmission (it was leaking oil and grinding) and have tried resetting the washer by opening the lid multiple times. Resetting sometimes works to get the washer into a spin cycle. We have also run diagnostic tests on the drain pump, pressure hose and spin cycle and there are no fault codes. At a loss on what to try next.
For model number GTW465ASN1WW

Hi Eugene, thank you for reaching out. Based on the description you have provided, it seems that there is an issue with the control board, part number PS17626555. It manages the washer's functions such as filling, washing, draining and spinning. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

When the washer is running with load we hear a loud squeal throughout the wash. Is this usually caused by the belt?
For model number GTW330ASK4WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Abdollah, Thank you for reaching out. We suggest checking for wear or damage to the Belt, Clutch and Pulley. If they are all clear, you may have a worn Platform Bearing Retainer & Fasteners (Gearcase). We hope this helps, good luck with the repair!

Machine won’t switch from cold to hot or warm water. Please tell me what part we need
For model number Htw240ask6ws
PartSelect logo
Hello James, thank you for getting in touch. If your washer only fills with cold water and will not switch to hot or warm water, the issue is mostly likely with the water inlet valve, part number PS12726768. The water inlet valve has two solenoids—one for hot and one for cold. If the hot water solenoid fails electrically or is stuck closed, the machine will only fill with cold water. We hope this helps.
