Installation Instructions
Dale from Ligonier, IN
Maytag Refrigerator - fridge compartment was not cooling and the freezer compartment seemed to be cooling okay
Maytag Refrigerator (new 1991): First I unplugged the refrigerator from the electrical receptacle. I then removed the front grille and used a nutdriver to remove two small screws and unplugged the defective defrost timer. I then plugged the new defrost timer in, reinstalled the two small screws, reinstalled the front grille, and finally, plugged the refrigerator into the electrical receptacle. This took less than 15 minutes to complete. Please note, you may need to manually defrost the refrigerator, at least 8-10 hours, in order for the new defrost timer to have a fresh start of a defrosted fridge.
Frigidaire Freezer (new 2005) - Replacing the Drain Pan: First I unplugged the freezer from the electrical receptacle. I then removed the four bolts holding the compressor in place using a socket and ratchet. Then I carefully pulled the compressor out of its compartment to where I could easily get to the broken drain pan. I removed the broken drain pan and installed the new drain pan. Carefully pushing the compressor back into its compartment, reinstalling the four bolts. Plugged the freezer back into the electrical receptacle. Please use caution as the compressor may be hot and being careful not to kink any of the lines connected to the compressor. This project of installing a new drain pan took me about an hour to complete. Good Luck
