The Door Cam is a black plastic part which helps the door pivot shut while keeping the door and hinge in proper alignment. Lubricating this part upon installation may help it move easier. It attaches onto the door hinge and should be replaced if broken or if there is noticeable damage. Refer to your model number and user manual to ensure this is the correct part for you. To do this repair you will need a 5/6 nut driver, a 5/16 socket, and a ratchet. For safety purposes, do not forget to turn off your appliance before making this repair. Note that this piece is black, and as per the manufacturer requires a new screw to mount the door cam which is sold individually. Please also note that this is the closing cam for the lower door, and the upper door cam is sold as a separate kit.

Refigerator door was not closing all the way if not pushed shut.

Remove the top hinge cover. Removed the top hinge support. Lifted the door from the bottom support. Old door cams were worn completly flat. Replaced the lower door cam and closing cam use a little vasalene for lubricant on the cam surfaces. Placed the door back on the lower hinge support. Replaced the top hinge support. Door is closing great now.

Door would not open all the way

Removed items from door. Put down blanket on floor. Remove top hinge cover. Removed small bolts. Open and lift door off bottom hinge. Put on blanket on side and remover screw holding upper closure. Installed new closure. Removed bottom closure and installed new closure. Reinstalled door and closed to frame. Reinstalled top hinge and bolts adjusted door and tighten bolts. Reinstalled top hinge cover. For indicator light. Unplug unit and removed screws for kick plate. Removed light holder and removed terminals. Removed light and install in reverse order. Read more...

The door would not close properly. The CAM had broken.

The repair was very simple.

1. Remove the food from the door shelves.

2.Remove the door by first removing the three screws holding the hinge at the top of the refrigerator.

3. Lift door off of the bottom hinge.

4.Replace bottom CAM on bottom hinge (one screw)

5. Replace top CAM and shim on door (one screw)

6. I put a little grease on the cam to make it slide better.

7. Place door on bottom hinge. Remount top hinge.

removed the upper freezer door to access screws to remove lower door.
