Frost-free freezer was frosting up

First I cut the gasket-fip with the wire cutters. Then I removed the gasket by pulling it away from the center if the door (not perpendicular to the door). I placed the new gasket over the door, secured the corners first, then pressed the rest of the gasket into place.

The repair to the refrigerator door (lower compartment) stopped the freezer from frosting (upper compartment), and it also reduced the time the compressor runs. However, I have the freezer turned to the lowest possible setting, and it still seems to be quite cold. There may be another issue w/ the unit such as the thermostat. Read more...

freezer door gasket

It is pretty simple, if you lift the lip on inside of gasket there are 1/4 in. screws just loosen them but do not remove all the way just enough to get the gasket off and if needed a little more to get the new one back on. gasket width and length about 1inch too short

I'm a retired auto mechanic....I thought this would be an easy job. I figured it would be easier if I removed the fresh food door which I did and it was straight forward. However the "folds" of the new gasket were different than the old one which I thought was an "update". But, after much struggling, I determined that the length and width of the new gasket were each about 1 inch shorter than the old one. When I decided to return the part, I was told that sometimes you have to soak the part in hot water. There were no instructions with the new part regarding this. I decided to buy a new refridge. Old, cracked freezer door gasket

This is in a rental house; Refrigerator/freezer has been off for a few weeks so just opened the freezer door and used screwdriver to pry out one corner then pliers to grab and pull old gasket (seal) off. Had the new one laid out overnight to relax it; placed one corner on and then the opposite corner then repeated the other two corners. Positioned the keeper edge plastic all of the way around to place the gasket in the door. Closed the door to check the seal and plugged unit back in. Waited and then checked air temp with hand held IR temp gauge. All checked good, no cold spots anywhere. Piece of cake! Read more...
