Whirlpool Microwave Light Bulb - 40w

Manufacturer Part Number 8206232A
This 40w light bulb is a replacement bulb constructed of glass and metal. It is an easy-to-install electrical part which produces 40w of light. If the bulb won't light up then it may be broken and should be replaced. The bulb attaches directly to an appropriate light socket and has a small screw-in base. To access the exterior light bulb, you will need to remove the panel on the bottom of the microwave using a Phillips screwdriver. If your exterior light bulb has not been changed before, it is probably held in place with some silicone. You will need to cut away this silicone to remove the old bulb. If you cannot access the silicone with a utility knife, it can be removed using dental floss. Once the silicone is removed, simply unscrew the old bulb, and replace it with the new one. Be sure to disconnect the power to the microwave before you begin this repair. This light bulb measures about 1 1/8 inches. We do not recommend using a higher-wattage bulb for this appliance, and can only recommend this specific bulb. If fixing the bulb does not solve your microwave light issue, it's possibly a problem with the socket, which means the socket and/or board will need to be replaced. This can be a more dangerous repair, so consult your user manual or a technician before attempting.

Burned out light under microwave and Filters needed changing
I just removed the multiple screws which held the hood cover on. I then attempted to remove the light bulbs from the socket. This proved impossible because the bulbs were so fragile from the heat and grease build up. To make this task much easier and probably safer, just replace the bulb housing and light bulb. The bulb housing unplugs very easily. Just replace it then screw your new bulb in. P.S. Be sure to unplug appliance before you start.

The filters are very easy to replace. No tools needed.

Hope this helps.

This an authentic OEM 40-Watt replacement light bulb, used in a number of household appliances. It is specially designed to withstand extreme temperatures, which is why these replacement bulbs are most often used to light the inside of refrigerators and ranges. It features a standard socket base, which means you simply unscrew the burnt-out bulb and screw in the replacement. Depending on the appliance you may require a screwdriver or nut driver to access the light bulb. We recommend you wear work gloves while handling this replacement part. It is constructed of glass and metal and is sold individually. Depending on the appliance and location of the bulb within it, you may want to consider disconnecting power and using a flashlight for easier access to unscrewing and re-screwing in your bulb during this repair.

Whirlpool Microwave Surface Light Bulb

PartSelect Number PS11722423
Manufacturer Part Number W10709921
This microwave surface light bulb (120v 25w) is an OEM replacement part used in microwaves and microwave/hood combos. It is one of the two halogen lightbulbs that are positioned on either end of the base of the appliance to illuminate the cooking surface. The light allows you to easily monitor the cooking/heating process. Over time the light bulb may burn out or break resulting in difficulty viewing the cooking surface, and increased chances of injury while cooking. To replace the bulb, unplug the appliance and remove the light cover/lens, to access the bulb housing. Carefully unscrew the old bulb from its socket to avoid breaking it and damaging the assembly. Inspect the socket to check that it is in good working condition. If both of your light bulbs fail at the same time, the socket may be experiencing an electrical fault and will need to be replaced. Install the new bulb by screwing it into the socket. Reattach the light cover and plug in the appliance to check that the light bulb is functional. Each light bulb is sold individually.

The over the range halogen light bulb is difficult to remove.
The halogen light bulb is very tight in the socket and difficult to remove by hand. Read reviews by other customers who had the same issue and complained that they ended up breaking the bulb trying to remove it. If broken may require an on-site service technician to remove the whole assembly with additional much higher cost and time. I found wrapping some duct tape around the burned-out bulb made it easier to grip and remove the old bulb without breaking it.
Based on some You-Tube videos I watched newer models now use LED light panels which appear to solve this problem.

Manufacturer Part Number 6912W1Z004B
This is a light bulb and it is a part for your microwave. This bulb uses 30 watts, operates on 125 volts, and is an incandescent lamp. The function of this bulb is to illuminate the surface underneath and inside of your appliance while the door is open, and during a cooking cycle. You will need to replace this part if your door is open and the light is not activated. We recommend that you unplug your microwave and leave it inactive for some time before making this repair. Proceed with caution as the capacitors in a microwave can hold dangerous electrical charges for long periods of time even when the appliance has been unplugged.

The door was crocked and wouldn't shut properly
Everything was easy. I read one of your other reviews and it gave me the confidence to try it myself. First i toke off the cap at the top of the door then the three screws. I lifted the door off so i could be sure the cam was my only problem then put the door back on. That took 5 mins. Then I got on the computer and ordered the parts i needed. Two days later the parts arrived and and i took the door off again. Then put the new cam on, applied a litle vasiline, put the door back on and forgot that i ever had a problem. Thanks for the help. The light socket in your microwave houses the light bulb and connects it to the power source. The light bulb will screw into it, so the light bulb will be held in place. Be very careful when installing this part, and be sure to consult your manual before you begin this repair.

Light bulb burned out and socket shorted out
Unplugged the microwave to de-energize the unit. Removed 1 screw and the shroud on the range hood light; removed the light bulb. Removed 4 screws from each side and the front of the metal plate on the underside of the unit. Carefully lowered the plate to expose the light socket. Noted which wire was connected to each terminal (they are color-coded), then released the spring clip connectors from the terminals. Removed the 1 screw holding the socket in place then reversed the procedure to install the replacement parts. Read more...

This surface light bulb is used in ranges and microwaves. It has a high voltage of 12 and 10 watts. This bulb illuminates and directs light at the bottom of the microwave or the inside of it. It also illuminates the top and bottom of an oven. If your bulb breaks, or the light flicks on an off, replacing it will solve your issues. Pro tip: High voltage capacitors in ranges and microwaves can retain lethal electrical change even when unplugged, to ensure your safety a technician should install this part. Refer to the manual provided by the manufacturer for further instructions.

Surface lights and filters needed replacement
By pulling the filter screens units down and out with a pair of pliers I had access to the surface lights. Pulled the lights out of their sockets and replaced the bulbs. Real easy. Since the filter units were out, replaced the filters and reinstalled the filter units. The whole operation took less than 15 minutes. Read more...

Replace KitchenAid oven light bulbs
Pull the end of the lens nearest the oven door out of the oven wall. Because our oven is several years old and the bulbs had not been previously changed, I could not pull the lens out with my hand, so used two small screwdriver under the metal tabs which hold the lens in place, the metal holder came out with the lens. Once the lens is removed, simply pull out the old bulb and, either while wearing surgical gloves or holding the bulb with a cloth (do NOT allow bare skin to touch the bulb or you will be replacing it again sooner rather than later), push the new bulb's pins into the socket. The lens then is simply pushed back into place. Read more...
