Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This refrigerator door gasket is a durable, flexible rubber seal designed to create a tight closure around the door, helping maintain proper temperatures and overall cooling efficiency. It replaces worn or damaged gaskets that can cause cold air leaks, excess moisture, or door sweating. The gasket is shaped for a precise fit along the door frame, restoring an even, reliable seal once installed. Installation is typically straightforward—warming the gasket slightly can help it seat properly, and then it can be pressed into the existing groove around the door to ensure a smooth, secure fit.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

The right part
Easy install - followed a YouTube video.

Gaskets were deteriorating from use
I started with the right door and just pulled the gasket off. I then made sure which gasket was for that door and aligned it with the old gasket to make sure of top and bottom. Then it just pushes in with your thumb. It took about 5 minutes. The left door is a little more complicated. First remove 2 screws that hold the mullion. Gently hi

Original gasket became deformed creating bad seal.
Soak new gasket in hot water in bathtub to soften while removing old gasket. No tools required, it was a little difficult pulling old gasket out but once you get it started part way out it will come out real easy. By the time you get the old gasket out the new gasket will be warm and easy to get started into the groove it pops into. Start

Are the door gaskets the same part number for both doors?
For model number LFX25978ST
Hi Kathy, thank you for reaching out. No, the door gasket part numbers are different for both the doors. The right-side door gasket is part number PS12588648, and the left-side door gasket is part number PS3616947. We hope that helps!
