Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This washer gearcase assembly is a critical internal component designed for select top-load washing machines. It serves as the transmission system that drives both the agitator and the spin basket, enabling effective cleaning and water extraction. During the wash cycle, it powers the agitator to scrub clothes thoroughly, while in the spin cycle, it rotates the basket at high speeds to remove excess water using centrifugal force. This assembly ensures smooth transitions between agitation and spinning modes, contributing to the overall performance and efficiency of the washer. Replacement may be necessary if the machine exhibits symptoms such as failure to agitate or spin, excessive vibration, or unusual operational noises like grinding or rattling. Installation should be performed with the washer unplugged, and model compatibility must be verified prior to purchase.

My washer is very loud on the spin cycle and I think i don’t know if it’ll need a transmission or just a bearing. When spinning, it makes a loud noise like it’s going to take off
For model number MVW6230HW1
Hi Jeffery, thank you for reaching out. The issue is most probably because of the fault in the bearings, but they come attached to the gear case, part number PS16730207. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!
