My washer turns on by itself and tries to drain. If left plugged in it tries to drain for 5 minutes, shuts off for 5 minutes and then tries to drain for 5 minutes. This continues until unplugged. It also says code F3E2.

Hi Paula, thank you for reaching out. The F2E2 error code on your Maytag washer means there is a communication error between the main control board and the user interface control board. We suggest that you check the main control board, part number PS16555299, and the user interface control board, part number PS16221057. Pushed in on door strike and rotated it counterclockwise, removed broken strike and installed new strike. NOTE: when removing the old strike (turning counterclockwise) it felt like it might break and/or was attached with an screw that I didn't see but it came right out.
