Introducing the genuine OEM Transformr from Whirlpool, specifically designed to be compatible with certain models of Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Inglis, and Magic Chef. This high-quality part primarily serves as an 8.5 Volt cutting grid transformer for ice makers. Its purpose is to produce the electricity necessary to light the respective appliance's display. Despite appearances, this part may vary subtly in size and shape; thus, verification of your model's compatibility prior to purchase is beneficial. Disconnect your appliance's power before installing this part. To best protect your hands during installation, usage of work gloves is highly recommended.

This is a freestanding Kenmore Icemaker. Unit powers up but makes one batch of ice and then the "reset" light comes on. Press it and it will make another one. I replaced the circuit panel but it does the same. Now it appears that perhaps the transformer is the issue. It is hot to the touch.

Hello Dan, thank you for contacting us. The most probable culprits of the issue are the thermistor, part number PS11755741, the start relay overload, part number PS11748862, and the transformer, part number PS11740309. Before replacing the transformer we would recommend checking the other two culprits. Customer service is always available to help you place an order if you are having trouble doing so. Good luck with your repair.
I replaced the wire from the cutting grid because it broke on one of the 10ft lines strung within the metal part. I used 24 gauge galvanized wire. It heats up and cuts the ice but after the 3rd or 4th sheet the the transformer blows blows one of its two fuses. I believe if I remember correctly the fuse from the outlet side of the (input side of transformer) transformer doesn't blow, just the second fuse on the output side that goes to all control board and then to all other running parts that hook up to the control board.
Could the wire I used be making the fuse blow? I did see somewhere the wire needs to be like 22gauge NiChrome wire.

Hi William,
Thank you for your question. To insure that the ice maker operates normally, it is important to use the parts listed for it. The part number for the ice cutting grid wire is PS370853. We hope this helps!
