The electronic control board is used in refrigerators to monitor and manage the temperature settings, such as cooling or defrosting times. If your fridge or freezer is too warm, too cold, is not defrosting, will not start, and/or runs too long then replacing the control board could solve your appliance problem. The tools needed for this installation project is a small flat blade screwdriver. *Please note: the board will need to be programmed after installation. Remember to unplug refrigerator from power source as a safety precaution. Refer to the manual provided by the manufacturer for further installation instructions and accurate guidance.

Freezer is cold, Refridgerator is not as cold as it should be

Having seen this problem before in other equipment so I had an idea where to look. Problem: the automatic defrost function was not operating. Looking through openings in the back panel of the freezer compartment, you could see the evaporator coils and fins were a solid chuck of ice. There are three logical components to check. Heater element, thermostat (located just above the evaporator) and a relay on the control board (located in the fridge control panel). Checked the heater with an ohm meter -- OK. The thermostat closes the circuit at around 20 degrees and opens at around 32 degrees. Pulled out the thermostat, wiring, fan unit. Everything unplugs, unscrews, and unclips, don't cut wires. Put the whole assembly in a friends freezer for an hour or so to see if the thermostat closes -- OK. Problem had to be with the control board. Replaced control board, reprogrammed it per included instruction. Everything is working again. Read more...

Electronic control panel was dead. Refr did not cool down or operate at all.

The frig. no longer cool downed or operated at all as the electronic control panel was dead. Pulled old part off and put in new part, following instructions on You Tube. However, this part did not solve the issue. I had to call a repairman. The repairman said that another part was needed also, this part costs over $400.00 but, the part was no longer available. I had to purchase a new frig. and not a happy camper to have a 6 year old frig,that a part is no longer available. Read more...

Refrigerator quit except for the light inside.

Removed the metal cover over the HV electronic board on the back of the unit. Using a flat head screwdriver I unsnapped the plastic cover and removed it. I unplugged the 5 or 6 cables from the electronic board. Bent back the plastic tabs holding the board. You might think they are going to break but they bend. I lifted the board out and replaced it with the new one. Then plugged the cables in being careful to align them first. I then applied power and the refrigerator came to life. I followed the programming instructions that came with the refrigerator. You can get those online also. The unit began to run and in a few minutes the compressor came on. Ice Maker would not stop making ice.

First, I tested the ice maker "switch" that actually just covers the beam that regulates the ice maker. In the "off" position, it still made ice. Then, I removed the three screws on the cover over the transmitter and disconnected the circuit board at the wire connector. It stopped. After ordering and receiving the new transmitter and receiver boards, I replaced both boards. They are located on either side of the freezer compartment under panels held in place by three screws. pulled out inverter box, opened up and located burned components in circuit board. rolled the dice bought new one and installed. the terminal leading from inverter didn't match the terminal coming from the compressor . cut both off and supplied my own junction terminal. Read more...
