Freezer is cold, Refridgerator is not as cold as it should be
Having seen this problem before in other equipment so I had an idea where to look. Problem: the automatic defrost function was not operating. Looking through openings in the back panel of the freezer compartment, you could see the evaporator coils and fins were a solid chuck of ice. There are three logical components to check. Heater element, thermostat (located just above the evaporator) and a relay on the control board (located in the fridge control panel). Checked the heater with an ohm meter -- OK. The thermostat closes the circuit at around 20 degrees and opens at around 32 degrees. Pulled out the thermostat, wiring, fan unit. Everything unplugs, unscrews, and unclips, don't cut wires. Put the whole assembly in a friends freezer for an hour or so to see if the thermostat closes -- OK. Problem had to be with the control board. Replaced control board, reprogrammed it per included instruction. Everything is working again. Read more...

This set of two electronic control boards includes both the emitter and receiver modules, which work together to manage ice production and dispensing in compatible refrigerator models. The emitter sends a signal to detect ice levels, while the receiver interprets that signal to determine when the ice bin is full and when to initiate dumping or refilling. These boards are essential for maintaining proper ice maker functionality, ensuring efficient operation and preventing overfilling or underproduction. Installation should be performed with the appliance unplugged, and compatibility must be confirmed using the refrigerator’s model number.

Ice Maker would not stop making ice.
First, I tested the ice maker "switch" that actually just covers the beam that regulates the ice maker. In the "off" position, it still made ice. Then, I removed the three screws on the cover over the transmitter and disconnected the circuit board at the wire connector. It stopped. After ordering and receiving the new transmitter and receiver boards, I replaced both boards. They are located on either side of the freezer compartment under panels held in place by three screws. Probably saved 150 to 200 bucks. Read more...

Refrigerator quit except for the light inside.
Removed the metal cover over the HV electronic board on the back of the unit. Using a flat head screwdriver I unsnapped the plastic cover and removed it. I unplugged the 5 or 6 cables from the electronic board. Bent back the plastic tabs holding the board. You might think they are going to break but they bend. I lifted the board out and replaced it with the new one. Then plugged the cables in being careful to align them first. I then applied power and the refrigerator came to life. I followed the programming instructions that came with the refrigerator. You can get those online also. The unit began to run and in a few minutes the compressor came on. The unit began cooling and life was good again! Read more...

Ice Build-up in freezer
We have a bottom freezer refridgerator that kept having ice build-up in the freezer. We thought it was being caused by people (kids) not fully closing the freezer door. The ice build-up was really thick especially behind the rear cover. i defrosted the freezer about 3 times and it kept happening. We replace the timer (PS2065577) and have not had a problem since. The timer is actually in the refridgerator compartment , but controls the defrost cycle in the freezer. Read more...

Refrigerator would work great then after 2 weeks would stop. I had to unplug and wait a few minutes the plug it in again. Would work 2 weeks or so then the exact same thing. Hopefully the main board will solve the problem
(1) Unplug the refrigerator
(2) Remove 4 nut driven sheet metal screw to remove access plate in the back.
(3) Remove a clear hard plastic cover. Several electronic boards are held in place with plastic tabs.
(4) The main electronic board is easily recognizable.
(5) Unplug all wire plugs from main board. Don't work about what plug goes where when reinstalling. Each plug is different from the others. It's fool proof.
(6) I wore vinyl gloves when I handled and installed the new board. I did not want any static charge to jump to the board.
(7) Re-install all electrical plugs. Note use minimum force to remove and install these plugs as some are small and fragile.
(8) Before re-installing the hard clear plastic cover make sure all electrical plugs are properly installed.
(9) Follow thru to reverse removal procedure for metal plate.
(10). Plug in the refrigerator.
(11) I purchased a delay receptable to prevent both electrical surges and reduction in electrical voltage.
