Hotpoint Washer Water Inlet Valve Assembly

This is a water inlet valve; an electrically controlled solenoid valve that opens and closes when necessary, to control the flow of water into your washing machine during the washing cycle. This part features two different valves, one for cold and one for warm water. If your washer is having difficulty filling up properly or is not filling up at all, the inlet valves may be bad and not opening to allow water in, meaning the valve needs replacing. Replacing water inlet valves will require some disassembly of your washing machine, so a screwdriver, socket wrench, and other tools will be necessary. This water inlet valve is sold individually, and does not come with any other parts or accessories.

Water would not stop running in to tub even when unplugged.
Removed the two 1/4" hex screws (one on each side of the control panel). Lifted the control panel off and let it hang behind the washer. Removed the connector on each side of the valve assembly. Removed the two 1/4" hex screws on the valve assembly and lifted the assembly out. Reversed the process to install.

Leaking water
Unplug electricity, unscrew 3 bolts with nutdriver from rear of top panel, expose triple valve, remove 2 screws from existing valve, turn water off & remove hose from triple valve, remove outlet hose attached to the valve,install new valve with 2 screws & replace outlet hose, attach hot/cold hoses, replace top part of washer with the 3 screws,plug in electricity & turn on the hot & cold water, that's it.

water continues to flow into washer when switch is turned off and even unplugged.
Unplug electrical cord from outlet. Turn off water and remove supply hoses from back of unit.Remove three screws from rear of control panel, slide panel slightly to right to disengage connecting flange. You now have access to inside of control panel. Remove two screws holding water valve to machine, remove clamp holding single fill hose from valve. unplug the three electrical plugs connecting the valve. Reverse order with new part from part select. Easy, replacement part was an exact replica of old one.

Washer overflowing water wouldn't stop even when turned off or unplugged.
Turns out that water valve was bad but that's not the only thing I find out after I replaced that part my washer could not register what load size is on so there is bad pressure hose and pressure switch also. Easy unplug washer turn off water remove water supply hoses then unscrew the 3 screws that are holding control panel. Disconnect old valve from the cable plug unscrew the screw that is holding water valve. Install new valve by placing it in the same place where the old one was screw the screw that holds the valve connect it to the cable plug connect water supply hoses plug plug in the washer back and turn on the water. Check for possible leaks and test your washer by choosing the smallest load.

washer was overfilling
Removed the water level pressure switch and the water inlet valve to test parts for proper operation with an ohm meter. Electrically, the switches seemed to work fine so I thought it was probably a mechanical water valve problem. I ordered and replaced both parts anyway just to be sure and potentially save time.

Water dripping into the washer tub constantly
Unplug the washer. Turn off water supply. Disconnect hoses and have a bucket to catch the water standing in the hoses. Unscrew the 4 screws on the top of the control panel (my model had torx head screws). Flip down the control panel. Unplug the triple water valve. Disconnect the hose clamp from the water valve. Unscrew the water valve using a 1/4" nut driver. Replace with the new valve in reverse order. If your washer is older I would recommend also purchasing the hose & water inlet (number 803 on the diagram) I was afraid that mine would crack when I removed it. It was a very easy repair and I am happy that I did not have to pay a repairman to fix thia problem.

Hot Water side barely running
First cut off both incoming water supplys. Next remove the water hoses to the inlet. Then remove some of the screws that are holding the back panel on that will give you access to the inlet plate remove those screws and that are holding the inlet in. when you remove the inlet mark the wires take of the water hose and remove inlet now do the opposite to assemble There was no Rocket Scientist needed and the funny part $12. cheaper than literally going around the corner to the appliance store Thank You and my wife thanks You
