This is a bellow, though it may also be known as a door boot seal, and it is a part for your washing machine. The function of the bellow is to prevent leaks by forming a seal in between the wash tub and the door of the washing machine. The boot gasket measures to be almost 21 inches by 21 inches and is gray in color. Take caution, as this part is prone to tearing if the washer is frequently overloaded. To complete this repair, you will need a Phillips screwdriver, a number two square bit, and a pair of needle-nose pliers.

Simple repair / wedges not included
The bellow was as ordered and needed. Other companies provide plastic wedges to help reinstall retention spring which is frustrating without them. Including those would help immensely.

simple
I watched a youtube video about my leaking washing machine. Then, I went to PartSelect and entered my model number and it told me what part to get. When it arrived, I watched another video on how to install the part. Done. No more leak. Ten years ago, I would have had to hire a technician at a stupid cost to fix it. But, today, I only paid the price of the part itself. I've added this site to my favorites list in my browser, for the next time one of my appliances breaks...and they'll all break at some point. Thank you. This is a real review. I have no connection to this company at all. for real. -Josh H. (Oklahoma)

ELECTRONIC COMPONENT
Still waiting on the part. It apparently is on back order and I'm still waiting to get the part to try and repair the dryer.
I estimate an hour to replace the part if I ever get the part.

Original bellow had 2 largish holes in the upper left quadrant; random leaking.
Bought new part. #1 Lesson learned: Always inspect the actual part number of the ordered/received part. Verify with number marked on the item somewhere. We did not do this and turned out we reinstalled a slightly smaller bellow (wrong part number received in shipment). We were able to fully install it but it was minutely not laying perfec
... Read moretly around the diameter. So minor we did not notice. We did have great difficulty installing though. Anyway, after 1st test run, bellow already had developed a small hole in bottom right quadrant from rubbing on the drum. Left a bunch of gray powdery debris on the drum too. We did not realize error until that point. Took bellow off again to verify part number on it. It was wrong. That explained why the door was so very tight to close and difficult to open. Other than all that, use the video to do the install. It was free to view and easy to follow.

Do all front load washing machines have rubber gasket's that are impregnated with a scented, antimicrobial substance to prevent nasty odors?
I have an Electrolux ELFW7637AT. Can this rubber gasket be replaced with one that does not smell? If not, how long does the smell take to go away?
Could you suggest front load machines with non chemical coated rubber gaskets. Thanks
For model number ELFW7637AT
Hi Jill, thank you for the great question. Electrolux uses a patented rubber gasket that is impregnated with a scented, antimicrobial substance to prevent unpleasant odors. Peppermint oil and citrus juices or oils are great at cutting through strong smells. Apply one or the other to a dampened cloth and wipe down the entire surface of the gasket. Even without these methods, the gasket smell will slowly dissipate by itself. You can not replace Electrolux gaskets with another manufacturer's gasket. We hope this solves your problem!

I think I need to replace the door boot gasket on my Electrolux Luxcare washing machine (Model # EFL5627UTT) because it has what appears to be black residue oozing out of the rubber in little black splotches. It has a strange but semi-pleasant (not noxious or nasty) smell. I think it may be mold, but I’ve used white vinegar and baking soda to try and clean it off, but the mold appears to be coming from inside the rubber gasket itself. Please help me find the correct part.
