KER331ZAS0 Frigidaire Dryer - Instructions

1. watched PartSelect video 2. adjust for the fact this was a dryer over top a washer. 3. we were able to remove the very top plate of the dryer and not have to remove the drum to get to the Thermal Limiter. 4. i used a drill driver with a square bit to speed up getting out screws. 5. It requires a ladder to be able to work from the top and 6. some pretty good manual dexterity to get the limiter out without removing drum. 7. the replacement seems to have improved the drying function!

it was so easy using the video that you emailed me. I want to rebuild my whole drier now .

I unplugged the dryer from the power outlet and removed two screws from the back of the top cover and removed the cover. Then I laid the dryer down on its back for easy access to the screws on the bottom of the front side. I then removed two screws from the front bottom cover to clear the way for two more screws for the front main panel and door. Then I removed those two screws that attach the front panel and door to the dryer from the bottom of the dryer front. I then stood the dryer back up on its 4 pegs. I removed the top 4 screws connecting the control panel to the cross bar on top. Then I removed the two screws from inside the dryer accessing them from the top of the dryer, holding the front panel. With little and gentle force I pulled the front panel and door from the dryer housing, making sure not to loose the 4 snaps that come off with it. I removed two screws from the access panel to get access to the pulley in the lower back of the dryer. I loosened the tensioner by pushing it to the side and pulled the belt off the pulley. Next I needed to remove the drum which is connected by three screws in the center of the inside of the drum to a small plate on the outside that is attached to a ball that goes into a grease box. I then wiggled the drum out of the dryer. With some force I pushed the plate upwards to disengage it from the grease box and removed it. I unplugged the electrical wires connected to the thermostat and element. I then removed 4 screws from the back of the dryer that hold the heating element housing and removed the housing. I replaced the heating element and housing and the belt and put the dryer back in reverse order.

Your tutorial video of how to change out the heating element was so helpful, it gave me the confidence to tackle it on my own. It was so detailed, there was no worries of not knowing what to do. Everything was exactly as the video showed, and was very easy to replace this heating element. My wife was thrilled we saved money on doing it ourselves, and grateful to have the dryer working with 3 kids and a husband who works in concrete! I am anything but an experienced handyman. I would always call the local appliance company to repair anything broken. This time money was a bit tight so I went on line to search directions to install a new heating element for our dryer. The PartSelect site was easy to navigate and with only the model number found the part I needed. Best of all the online instructional video so so detailed it made me believe I could do the repair. It took me less than 30 minutes to remove the burned out heating element. The new part arrived the next business day and was installed in another 30 minutes. It was so easy I feel guilty about all the other times I called service companies. Also, very upset about all the dollars I wasted. If and when any other appliance breaks, PartSelect will be the first place I will turn to. Thank you for giving me a new sense of pride in myself and saving at least $250.00. EDWARD

removed the front then removed the belt that turns the drum pulled the drum strait up from the top then removed the bushing from the back wall put the new one in I also put A little grease in the new bushing to keep it from wearing installed the drum and front. realy easy. I'm A Instructor at A technical collage in Winnfield Louisiana and I used this as A project for my students.

It was a closet type washer/dryer combo. With little space to work I needed to know how to get at the heating element to test it. Was told the tumbler had to come out the front to expose the element. Made the job easy without having to figure that out.

I followed the vidio from yor web site it was great without it i would still be trying to get done.

I never respond to any of these surveys, but in this case ill make an exception because they made it so easy and parts were received correctly a quickly. Thanks, dan

The part fit perfect repair was simple thank guys for your help u are the best/removed the top/ front face /belt & drum removed old element installed new one dryer works perfect thanks again

Took cover off and removed damaged part. Removed wiring and reattached to new part

Took apart dryer and replaced limiter located on back, reassembled dryer and tested wiithout connecting to vent. Dryer working fine without vent connection. However as always something simple turns to disaster when children help. While cleaning out lint from dryer vent which I will say was the original problem causing the limiter to trip, youngest son wanted to help. Son did not know that to walk in an attic you must step on joists not drywall. No one was hurt just banged up falling into the garage. Extended repair to ceiling added dificulty factor of 2 days and a bit of insulation clean up. Good news is the dryer works fine and the vent is no longer clogged up with lint. Watch your help it always adds to the repair.

I youtube'd the repair, and repaired it! While I was at it I replaced the belt! (Highly recommend replacing the belt while you are replacing the element!) Was a snap!

Had the drum bearing but had never got a round to putting it in we just let it squeek. Then the belt went. Easy enough, whatched the tutorial once and just did it. 35 minutes and back drying.

I heard the dryer running, but I didn't hear it tumbling like usual, so I got suspicious. I popped the top off of the dryer to reveal a broken belt. Installation took 20 minutes.
