Removed 6 screws total and removed the entire Auger and Ice Crusher. The broken Helix just fell off, I put the new one on after a little finagaling to get it lined up right and it just snap into place. Replace the screws, put the bucket back, dumped in the Ice and the dispenser started working Fine.
There was three screws to remove to unmout the ice maker, and unplug the wire harness, then two to remove to slip in new stripper. All took about 20 mins.
Repair was tremendously easy. All I did was remove old light switch by prying out with screw driver and plugging in the new light switch and pushing it into the hole. Simple! The instructions weren't needed, but they were very thorough.
1. Removed ice maker from frig. 2. Emptied all ice cubes. 3. Let it warm up to room temperature. 4. Removed front cover from bottom up (unsnapped). 5. Removed 4 screws. 6. Removed old helix cap. 7. Installed new helix cap. 8. Reverse of step 5 to step 1 above.
I removed the ice tray and removed the front plastic cover that simply snapped off. I removed 4 hex screws with 1/4" nut driver. Then pulled the auger forward. This allowed me to slide the end cap into place. I put the auger in place and retightened the 4 hex screws, snapped on the plastic cover it worked fine
I popped out the old switch with a screwdriver pressing down the tab on the bottom and unplugged the terminals. Then I plugged in the new switch and popped back into the socket. Piece of cake!
