Product Description

Float Switch Kit Specifications

This kit includes the switch, lever, seal and standpipe. Water that fills your dishwasher lifts the float, and when it reaches a certain level, the float acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher.

Pan leaked at the float/switch penetration
1. do not order or buy anything before examining the tension nut and washer. 2. Unplug the unit. 3. Open the switch box before trying to remove the float. Two types; easiest is pin based and lifts out easily. If the float catches, it likely has a headed bottom and needs an assist to lift past the stop flanges. 3. Using a standard ohmmeter, check for continuity. If it checks no need to replace. 4. Check float and assembly for abnormalities; cracks, lime deposits, etc. 5. Now decide what needs replacing. Did all my work with relative ease without pulling out the appliance. A couple sequences may need realigned.

replaced float switch and door links
Replacing the float switch was fairly easy and straight forward. removed old using adjustable wrench and replaced.

Replacing the door links was not difficult except I needed to pull the dishwasher out and had to disconnect the water line.
reconnecting the water line was the time consuming and frustrating part. Once that was hooked up and tested, i pushed the dishwasher back in place and all is good again.

A leak in the bottom of the dishwasher
I turned off the power at the fusebox, then removed the front lower cover using a screwdriver. I then removed the complete assembly and reversed the procedure. Quite simple, and the info on Partselect saved me 85 bucks! I put Partselect in my "favorites" for future use.

Noisy rattle in dishwasher since new when it was filling
Remove and replace solinoid, remove and replace mico switch. These are the only two electrically controlled devieces controling water flow. Replacing switch without replacing housing takes a soft touch. A small screw driver helps. Electrical connections have a stay in place nipple. Plyers help get thoes off.

Parts delivered as promised, correct fit. Phone contact available at order question.

Dishwasher leaked under right front corner. Discovered that overflow(float switch) was either sticking allowing fill to overflow or rubber gasket was deteriorated allowing water to leak through mounting hole.
Removed mushroom shaped float cover by simply pulling up. Cover simply slide down into switch which is mounted through the floor of the tub. Using an adjustable wrench loosened and removed plastic fastening nut allowing removal of switch assembly from below. Disconnected two wires from switch and attached replacement assembly, reinserted in mounting hole, reattached nut from top, reinserted float cap and job done! The only tricky part is that the switch needs to be mounted inside assembly, wires connected and snapped shut before reinserting. Not difficult once you figure it out, Also need to make sure rubber washer is inserted on the overflow tube before reinstalling. Keep track as you remove and simply reverse the order. Tried to obtain part locally and was told it would be 6-10 days before delivery. Order from Part select arrived in 2 days.

I cannot lift the float off of the overflow switch. Do I need to try harder?
For model number 66513963K014

Hello Gary, Thanks for your question. You will need to remove the toe panel at the bottom to access the lock nut which is on the float stem, and then remove the nut. This should allow you to remove the float. I hope this helps.

Hello John, Thank you for the question. This could be an issue with the Water Inlet Valve,PartSelect Number PS11746141. The defective valve can become stuck open and allow water to flow through into the tub when it is not in use. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

Hi we have this KitchenAid dishwaser since nov. 2009. Lately, we found out on several occasions dishes was not clean at all but the liquid soap had dispensed to the bottom of the washer after the full cycle. We giggled the floater a few times and then it would work. But sometime it still has the same problem. The water will fill in the bottom of the washer but the washing cycle will not come on. Is this a floater problem or other issues? Please advise.

Brand new control board was installed, was working fine. Now when turned on it fills and starts to wash but doesn't drain or go past wash cycle, just keeps washing. When I hit cancel the pump comes on and empties water. Could this be the float switch?
For model number KUD102CRBL1

Hello John, Thank you for the question. This could indicate the Turbidity Sensor is dirty or faulty. The Turbidity sensors measure the amount of light that is scattered by solids in water and will end the wash cycle once the water is clear. We hope this helps!

We.Think we've troubleshooter everything else, so I was wondering if a broken float would cause the dishwasher not to drain properly? When I push it, I don't hear a clicking noise. Thank you!

Hello Peter, thank you for contacting us. According to our research, we are providing you with the instructions that will help you in testing the float switch. Take each probe and touch them to one switch terminal each. This should produce a reading of either zero or infinity. Continue to touch the probes to the terminals and press down on the switch's button. The reading should change to the opposite extreme. We hope this helps!
