Range Round Carborundum Oven Igniter Specifications
This round style gas oven igniter, or also known as a broil or bake igniter, has an amperage range between 2.5 and 3.0. It glows white hot to ignite the gas for the oven. The igniter does this by attracting electrical currents through the safety valve to open it. *Please note: this does not replace the flat style igniters. If your gas igniter does not start, glows but does not light, or produces little to no heat when baking, replacing this part could be the solution to your problem. Refer to the diagram provided by the manufacturer for further instructions and guidance.

Gas oven would not heat - Replaced igniter
This model does not have a removable bottom drawer making access a bit of a challenge. 1. Remove power to the range. 2. Remove the oven door and the kick panel below. 3. Remove the floor of the oven. 4. Remove the burner shield. 5. Become a contortionist, then stick your head and torso in the gas oven. 6. Loo
... Read morek at the top in the back to see how the broiler igniter is mounted. Use this to select the proper size wrench. I suggest using little ignition wrenches. The oven igniter is mounted in the same manner. 7. Locate the oven igniter at the bottom, in the back, at the center. Remove the small screw taking care that you do NOT drop the wrench or the screw. This will be done by feel as the screw is only visible after you remove it. 8. Route the wire of the new igniter down, next to the old igniter wire. 9. Crawl under the oven (behind the kick panel you removed, and cut the wire. 11. While you are under there, strip the insulation back on the wires about 3/8 inch. Splice the new igniter wire to the oven using the new wire nut. Check that it is secure. 12. Back to the oven. If your back is still holding up, remove the old igniter. Install the new igniter and the old screw. Tighten securely, taking care to not strip the threads. 13. Remove all of your tools, your head, and your torso. 14. Plug the oven back in temporarily, turn the oven on and verify the igniter heats up. 15. Unplug the range again. 16. Reinstall the burner shield, the oven bottom, the door and the kick panel. 17. Make sure you have all of your tools, stand up, and since you are now a contortionist, pat yourself on the back!

Lower oven Igniter wouldn't heat up and fire the propane.
Called repair man and described the problem. He said I could do it myself. PartSelect had the part and a previous description on the PartSelect site told me how to do the repair. It was easy. Be careful when removing the igniter nuts. I used a very small amount of sewing machine oil so as not to strip the threads. works great.

oven would not light
took 2 screws out of bottom plate in the oven and lifted it out. removed 2 screw on the flame deflector and took it out. Took 2 screws out of old ignitor and unplugged it. Installed new ignitor tested oven put it back together. took about 30 min. screw driver only

replaced oven igniter
this was so simple.. attach with 2 screws and plug in and done.. less than a minute.. to be honest it took me longer to put the oven back together than installing the new part. lol

Removed racks and floor in oven, exposing ignitor assembly. Disconnected 2 wires at electrical connector plug. Removed 2 screws holding ignitor in place, removed bad ignitor, installed new ignitor in reverse order. Tested for ignition, all worked fine.

The ignitor, for the baking unit, went out on my oven
Had to remove the bottom oven shelf and the broiler drawer. Disconnected the wiring pigtail theought the broiler opening and pulled the gas pipe from the baking oven. Reomved the two screws connecting the ignitor from the pipe. Connected the new ignitor and threaded the wiring pigtail back down the the opening in the baking oven. Connecte

The Oven igniter was burned out and needed to be replaced
First I Pulled the oven away from the wall and turned off the gas and unplugged the oven. I then removed the bottom drawer and the oven door to get easy access to the ignitor location. I then removed the oven racks and the 2 shields which cover the ignitor with a screw driver. I then removed & unplugged the ignitor and 2 screws holding

To light the oven, i push bake, then i push start. It takes too many seconds for it to light. It is not a smooth, quiet ignition like it was when it was new (1996 model). It is a delayed ignition, like it is going to blow up. It scares me every time i light the oven. I know it's going to take a qualified repairman - i think. Is it going to cost too much to get a 20 year old stove repaired, or should i just bite the bullet and purchase a new stove. I am a handyman (farmer). Maybe i can replace the necessary parts.

Thank you for your question. If the igniter is taking too long to ignite, then you will need to replace the igniter. The part number for the igniter is PS11740875. There is a video on our website that you can reference on how to install the igniter. The stove may not show exactly like the one you have, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. You will find the video under part number PS1573892. If you are not comfortable changing the igniter yourself, you will need to get a repairman to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I’ve troubleshot the oven and believe this is the part that needs to be replaced. Question, my old part was connected using wirenuts and none of the wires have markings. Are there positive/negative wires on this new part? Does the polarity matter for this particular part when connecting to the wires to the control unit?

Oven heats but does not cook the food thoroughly -temperature fluctuates. Oven is older model. All 4 top burners work great.

Hello Cece, thank you for contacting us. We would suggest checking the oven igniter, part number PS11740875, with a multimeter for continuity to pinpoint the fault. If the oven igniter is faulty, it may not produce enough heat to ignite the gas, or it may ignite the gas sporadically, leading to fluctuations in the oven temperature. Good luck with this repair.
