Question:

Thanks for that quick answer. Is there any way of pin pointing which part is causing this problem rather than suspecting parts ,replacing it and then not solving the problem go after other parts those have direct link with each other, to the problem? Or is it that leave this problem to the pros who are equipped with the gadgets that spell out who is the culprit that causes the problem?

Rajendra Nayak for model number LSR8233EZ0
Answer:

Hi Rajendra, Thank you for your question. the only way to see which part is causing the issue is to inspect each one. For any electronic parts you will need to use a multimeter to check the continuity of them. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

thomas for model number TPX24BPDABB
Answer:

Hi Thomas, Thank you for your question. If the water dispenser is not dispensing water, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the water filter, the dispenser control board, the dispenser door assembly or flapper, the plastic tubing, the water tube union, the water inlet valve and the dispenser door solenoid. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

The wash cycle starts as normal with the "wash" light on. After about 6-7 minutes the timer stops counting down, but the water keeps pouring into the drum for about 3-4 minutes more and way above the normal level. At that time the counter switches to 5 min and the "spin" light comes on, skipping the "rinse" light. The water drains, but the drum does not spin. In 5 minutes the washer stops and the display shows the "ol" code, although the load is low. The "done" light does not come on, but the "end of cycle" signal sounds. The load stays wet. The rinse cycle works the similar way. The "drain & spin" cycle works normally and makes the load dry. Please advise what could be a reason. Thank you.

Ed for model number WTW6200VW0
Answer:

Hi Ed, Thank you for the question. The OL error code indicates that the washer is overloaded. If the washer is not overloaded, this may indicate either a drag on the drive system or the control board is defective. Be sure nothing is on the floor under the washer that could be causing the error. Lift the lid & manually spin the basket, it should spin freely. If not, you may have an item stuck between the spin basket and the washer tub. Hope this helps!

Question:

I just replace the water inlet valve but the water does not fill unless the timer dial is positioned at "rinse". After that the cycles completes to the end. What else could cause this initial water fill not to start - a water level switch or something else.

Rajendra for model number LSR8233EZ0
Answer:

Hi Rajendra, Thank you for your question. Yes, that would be my first guess. I would suggest checking that part and also inspecting the hose that is attached to it. Sometimes if there are any tears or holes in that hose it will effect how your water gets into the appliance. If that part is also fine, then it might be your timer. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

Whenever our ice maker fills, the water dispenser runs, overfilling the tray on the door and running to the floor. This occurs at any time of day or night. Our ice maker is also not filling completely, only the first half on the refrigerator side filling and making ice. These 2 may be related. I am most concerned about the water dispenser just running by itself but i should address the ice issue too. Thanks.

Answer:

Hello Wayne, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: water inlet valve, ice maker switch, dispenser switch, dispenser control board, door switches and water tubes. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

I must keep doing this to complete the wash cycle. Please help.

Hi Dennis, Thank you for your question. Based on what you described, it sounds like the lid switch is the issue and it needs to be replaced. Question:

I ordered part #ps10059162, temperature sensore, on 1/8 and got it and was put on stove on 1/13, when son could do it. The stove works, but not like it should. The stove starts heating but stops about halfway thru the cycle. Ex: Set it for 400* and it will stop heating at approx. 275*. You can turn oven off, restart the heat cycle and it will work. I really need this bottom oven to be more reliable so hoping you can tell me if there is another part i might possibly need. Thank you, nancy

Nancy for model number JB870DT1BB
Answer:

Hi Nancy, Thank you for your question. It sort of sounds like you may also have an issue with your temperature sensor inside of your appliance. I would suggest testing that part with a multi meter to make sure that it is working correctly. It sounds like it is just not reading the temperatures correctly. Good luck with your repair.

Water dispenser did not work (ice-maker did work)
This is a side-by-side frige with water and ice dispenser in the left freezer door. I first checked for possible water line freezing in the freezer door or in the water chiller area (behind the vegetable drawers) as described in e-articles I had read, but this did not appear to be the problem. I found two solenoid valve pairs; one that routes dispenser or ice-maker water to the filter and the other that routes the water to the end device. I ran a couple of tests on the solenoid valves and found that the first inlet valve that sends water to the filter did not work, but the second valve that relays the water to the dispenser was still working. By temorarily connecting the wiring for the dispenser solenoid to the functioning ice-maker solenoid, I confirmed that the wiring and switch were working properly and that the problem must be the solenoid itself (it also still hummed when the dispenser button was pressed). The entire quad solenoid valve assembly can be pulled out after removing the one hex-screw on the back of the frige (the assembly is all held together with a bracket). I disconnected the wiring connector to the solenoid valves. I disconnected the plastic water tubing by pushing it toward the fitting and then depressing the tubing inlet ring to release the tubing. I removed the two screws holding the solenoid valve and replaced it.

Water had leaked out behind the refrigerator and seeped into the basement walls. Noticed the paint peeling off the walls and traced the problem to the refrigerator's leaky valve
The leak was obvious and I took out the cardboard backing. I closed the valve (water supply) to the water dispenser and ice maker.

With the screw drivers and socket set, I was able to take out the old valve and disconnect the hoses.

Since the part was identical to the leaky valve it was just a matter of reversing the steps. I had previously researched on the web to find the identical part and found a match at Partselect.com. I wish all my repair attempts turn out to be this easy. I wish GE had used better parts since this incident has set me back by several thousand dollars due to the water damage to the wooden floors, basement ceiling and walls.

Leaking water
Unplugged frig. Turned off water supply to pump. Removed black cardboard covering on back of frig with nut driver (6 screws).

Took digital photo of assembly to confirm reassembly position.

Removed copper waterline to pump with adjustable wrench. Removed 1 screw holding pump assembly to refrigerator. Pulled assembly out of the frig. Unscrewed two small black screws on a second bracket. Pulled old pump further out of frig. Unplugged two connectors. Removed plastic waterline from pump by turning hose counter-clockwise and gently pulling.

Inserted plastic water line into new pump by turning line in clockwise and it pushing into orange plastic stop. Reconnected two electrical connectors. Reconnected bracket to pump with two small black screws. Gently pushed assembly back into the frig and reconnected pump assembly to the frig with 1 screw. Reconnected copper water line to pump first wrapping threads on pump with Teflon plumbers tape.

Turned on water to check for leaks. Installed cardboard back on frig with 6 screws. Plugged in frig.

NOTE. My new pump assembly had the electrical connectors reversed. Take care to pair up the correct colored connectors.

The water was leaking from below the refrigerator, and a big puddle was being formed.
First I removed the screws, and the covering at the bottom rear of the GE Fridge. I then removed the existing water valve which was the source of water leak, it was all corroded with the leak at the valve joints, so I knew the water valve needed to be replaced. The water valve I received from PartSelect fitted in perfectly, once I had removed the old valve. All I needed was couple of screw drivers for the replacement. I would like to thank PartSelect for making this easy and saving me lots of money & time by not going for outside professional help.

Water on door quit working
After changing the water filter to eliminate that, I did some research and determined it was probably a water valve. As this unit has a primary and secondary, and the secondary feeds the door (after receiving water from the primary) I mistakenly replaced the secondary. It was the primary water valve which was trickling enough water to keep the icemaker happy but not enough to drive the water on the door. In the future, I will do a test with a spare piece of water line which I ultimately did to figure this one out.

The connection on the valve was stripped
After trying to reconnect a flexible hose to the water valve several times I stripped the connection to the water valve, causing it to have a slow leak.

Twice I tried to have an appliance parts store order the part without success. (I even brought them the part from the refrigerator to show them how it looked. ) they ordered the wrong part two times and then said they could not figure out what part I needed.
Finally my wife and I went on line, keyed in the model number and searched for parts of the refrigerator related to the ice maker. We saw the correct part and ordered it ourselves.

It was a success. I changed the part within 30 minutes and the ice maker has been working ever since. I would search and find a part on my own again before trusting someone who supposedly sold parts as their business.

Water leak from valve
The hardest part was moving the side-by-side refigerator out from the wall. After accessing the back of the unit ,it was a matter of removing a few screws to remove the back plate. The valve was attached with one screw that held it to the unit. After disconnecting the electrical and water lines the valve was out. Replaced the new valve in reverse order. Everything works great.
