Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This part is the replacement fresh food lever for your refrigerator. It is also known as the door closer lever, and it is made of black plastic. It is approximately 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. The fresh food lever works with the cam and the spring and helps with the opening and closing of the door. If the lever is damaged and the door assist isn’t working properly, you may need to replace it. You will find the lever at the bottom of the refrigerator, behind the grate. This part is sold individually and is an OEM part.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Literally took longer to take out of the box than it did to install it. And it fit perfectly!

Perfect!
The part works perfectly! We broke one while moving our fridge through a doorway while the doors were removed. It closed with a loud click sound. Now it opens and closes very smoothly. Install is not too bad if you can get ahold of the spring with some skinny pliers. -DIY Busy Mom of 4 whose husband doesn't have time to fix the fridge door

Easy repair, worked just as expected
I was at first a little nervous about installing this lever because it had to include a spring as part of the installation. But the installation took about one minute and only required a small pair of pliers to anchor the spring. Right hand fridge door now closes perfectly! Thank you GE!

door won't seal
after replacing the door seal, I couldn't get the new seal to close and stay closed, so I replaced the closing arm and spring. The door will close now but not tightly and it's loosing cold air. So I made and patented a wooden block to put behind the freezer door handle and the refrigerator door handle to keep the doors closed. Available i

Both my refrigerator doors were damaged when we moved. The doors open and close fine...the problem is, when you open the door, it continues to open to over 180 degrees and bangs the cabinets next to it. i need both doors fixed and i think it is something that prevents the door from opening too far. what is this part? help!

When i close my fresh food door it doesn't close tightly. I have to lift the door just a bit then close for it to get a good seal. I see that the fresh food lever is broken could this be the cause?
