Engine runs for minute then shuts down
For model number TB146EC item 21ck146g966 carburetor
Hi Rick,
Thank you for your question. If your tiller's engine runs for a few minutes and then stops, this can be caused by old fuel that has been left inside the fuel tank. When you start the tiller, the fuel goes through the carburetor and causes a restriction in it. Always make sure that you have fresh fuel in the tank when using the tiller and use a fuel stabilizer to maintain the quality of the fuel. If the carburetor is clogged, you will need to clean it. If the carburetor shows signs of damage, you may be able to repair it with a carburetor repair kit or you will need to replace it. If the fuel cap is clogged, this may also cause the engine to shut off after a few minutes. If it is clogged you can try cleaning it, but if cleaning it does not help, you will need to replace it.
