ZISW42DCB General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

Turned off the water and unplugged the frig. Removed the assembly (the hard part as it was corrodided) by removing 4 screws and slipping the electrical connections off. The water lines slipped off easilyThe instructions were good and the part fit easily. Then reversed the process by connecting the electrical and water.
I ordered the part via internet on Wed. evening and received it on Friday. Excellant service!

Remove the burned out bulb and install the new light bulb.

Like others have described. Turn off water and unplug appliance. Remove back plate, remove bracket assembly, disconnect lines (push plastic rings in and pull on tubes) after marking with marker. Reconnect, lines, bracket assembly, panel. Water worked immediately, blowing air out momentarily until water flowed. Took a few times of manually filling ice tray before water started flowing enough to make ice.

I just followed the instructions on the video and it was exactly as they said......no surprises.

There are Great videos on YouTube!!! Turned off power,Removed trim ring, Pushed a philips head screwdriver in one of the holes underneath the electrical panel with the selector push buttons. This releases the electrical panel. There are Three wire sets with plugs. I removed the plugs and took the electrical panel out. Removed four Phillips head screws and pulled out the big paddle switch. This then exposes the flapper. Replaced flapper with new one and reassembled everything. When I had everything apart, I cleaned with window cleaner. It was pretty moldy from the water leaking. Turned power back on and tested everything to make sure I didn't mess anything up. Works great

Removed 4 screws holding back, removed water connection, removed screw holding bracket to frame disconnected electrical removed lines connected to valve assembly and installed valve assembly in reverse order.,

Under the control panel there are three small holes. Insert ballpen or small flat screw driver on both outer holes to push a tab lock that holds the control panel in place. Then pull out control panel and three set of wires will be exposed and disconnect wire connectors (connectors have different sizes so you wont get confused in reconnecting). Unscrew four screws on each corner that holds the ice dispenser assembly (a part where you push your glass against to dispense ice or water. The flapper is exposed and easy to replace.

Turn off power
Remove operator faceplate by pullling out on outer lower corners
Disconnect wire connectors from circuit board
Remove four screws from dispenser and pull out dispenser assy
Replcae Door ASsembly
Put everything back in place
Power up

unclipped and replace with new part.

First i removed two screws that holds the ice maker in, unplug the plug to the ice maker. I was able to remove the old one. Place the new one in screwed in the two screws and pluged in the plug and in just a little while i had ice again. I am a women, if i can do it any one can. I had a repair man tell me it was going to be $250.00 dollars to replace it. I got on line ordered the ice maker and had it in 4 days. Very fast shipping and easy to install. Excellent video was available on the Parts Select website. It was simple. The selector panel pulled out by hand from the bottom. The subpanel was removed with the four screws. The flapper snapped out of the holder with two clips. The new one was inserted in reverse order.

removed the dispenser and disasembled it repaced plate and reasembled.

1. Use skewer to press plastic tabs under control panel, 2. Remove control panel and unplug solenoid, 3. Unscrew dispenser assembly and solenoid screws, 4. Press in tabs on lamp and remove assembly - unplug, 5. Replace lamp assembly, 6. Replace solenoid assembly and fasten screws, 7. Replace flapper. 8. Replace other parts in reverse order.

I had no idea how to get the parts easily so i search on web , saw parts select.com,i read main folio of the site.which seems to me very reasonable.just one call and they delivered the part.nicely advised me if i need technical support to fix it but i was too confident and i did it.
