Removed top of agitator, then removed the nut holding the agitator in place, pulled up the second piece of the agitator, replaced dogs and put the agitator back together

I watched your video, followed the instructions, and
in 20 minutes I had a new washer! The repair man estimated the cost for repair at $150, but I didn't want to spend that much money on a 20-year-old washer, so I ordered the agitator repair kit, cost $12, and it arrived the very next day! I did exactly what the video indicated and within 30 minutes my washer was agitating like never before. Thank you so much for the video instruction, it was fantastic.

Go to youtube and watch how to repair washing machine agitator. It is so easy. did the repair. Now it works, less than $20.00 to fix. Now I don't need to buy a new washing machine. Maybe it will make it another 15 years.....

We ordered the dog Agit clutch and within a few minutes I had a new washer. It started agitating a lot faster.

Removed the four worn agitator directional cogs and replaced them with new ones

The repair went smoothy except for removing the screw that holds the upper agitator part from the bottom agitator. Once that was removed all went smoothly. Considering my washer is 17years old, I guess I should be happy that was my only problem. I followed the directions of the repairman in the video that was provided by the web site. Most of my parts matched his parts :). My husband was very proud that I repaired the washer and was able to diagnose the problem. Thanks for helping me save some $$$$. I shut the machine off and came to the site . I got the impression that it could have been several things. I made the wash and rinse very brief to minimize further damage. My clothes didn't get clean. I just had to pop the hubcap and remove a 7/16 hex head screw to see there was no damage but broken dogs. I hadn't needed to abort the wash. I think they've been broken 15 years but didn't happen to make noise before. if the top piece of the agitator were called the circulator, I would have figured it out years ago. On full loads, clothes didn't circulate very well and tended to come out with deposits of lint. I think friction from a coating of soap scum kept the circulator moving enough to fool me, but it wasn't doing its job. I heated baking soda in water on the stove to make washing soda. I soaked the parts to remove soap scum, paying special attention to the ring of cogs that the dogs would engage. I replaced the thrust spacer because it was cracked. I didn't feel any grease or see any wear, so I think the only function for grease would be to prevent squeaks. Now, with a full load, clothes and water circulate better than I remember.

I followed a repair video on YouTube It is easier to disassemble the agitator and replace to cogs The hard part was placing the top part of the agitator back onto the bottom parts, after I replaced the cogs. i use a flashlight to help see where the two separate pieces of the agitator need to be to connect the back together properly ( top agitator & bottom agitator). Once this sep is completed you have to place the whole agitator and line it up on the agitator rod. Line up the groves as much as possible. Turn the agitator slowly until it slides into place. Then use your socket wrench to tighten the screw. The screw is the last step to attach the agitator back onto the washing machine. Then replace the cap, to keep water from going down into the washing machine. Then replace the fabric softener dispenser. Now you have a great washing machine. I am a women and did this repair by myself.

My kit didn't have instructions, and there was one thing not mentioned by others, so I'll pitch in this info: 1) pry off the agitator cap. 2) Removed the bolt with nut driver & lift out agitator. 3) Now, to get the cam assembly out, I had to use some long needle-nose pliers to snap off small horizontal tabs that extend from the old cam assembly. These tabs exert outward pressure on some vertical tabs that extend upward from the agitator base and hold the cam assembly in place. It probably wouldn't be a big deal if you broke off the vertical tabs by mistake, since the bolt would hold the cam assembly in place anyway. With the horizontal tabs gone, the old cam assembly can be lifted off the agitator base. 4) The new assembly can be put in place, but the vertical tabs just mentioned need to be positioned so that the new assembly can be slid over the top. If they are bent, the new cam assembly will not drop down in place! 5) re-assemble the rest. ALL IS GOOD!

After reading on line how others did it, it was simple. I lifted out the softener dispenser. Under that there was a plastic cap. You just lift it out - theres no fasteners holding it. It just fits snugly in place by means of an o-ring. Under that there is one bolt holding the agitator to the spindle. Loosen that and remove the whole agitator. The agitator then comes apart in the middle. Just pull the two halves apart. The only tool you will need is one socket with a long extention and a ratchet. Once apart you will see the 4 plastic cogs that spin the agitator. The teeth were worn off of mine. I simply replaced the four cogs that come as a set. None of the other parts were worn to the point of needing replacement. I now have a fully functioning washing machine that was repaired for less than thirteen dollars!

remove top of adigator and remove bolt. remove plastic clip and cogs.replace in reverse order.

That OK , easy.

First, I removed the (3) piece softener cup from the top of the agitator.
Then I removed the bolt from inside the top of the agitator.
The agitator drive assembly lifts out of the lower agitator.
A flanged plastic snap ring holds the (4) drive dogs into the drive assembly.
Use a small screwdriver to remove the snap ring.
Replace the (4) drive dogs, and reassemble in reverse order.

As far as repairs go, this one is really easy.
