Had to pull the engine off the rider mower. Drained the oil took shield off the flywheel. Set it upside down on a 5 gal bucket. Took a 7/16 hand wrench to remove governor lever from bottom of engine. Left it in its location. Pulled 10 1/2 " bolts. Split engine case. Found the old governor had broke into pieces. Had to use a magnet to remove all the pieces. Removed the small clip and removed gear. Lubed shaft slid new on put new clip on. Lined governor weights with center piece tapped it in place very lightly. Cleaned gasket flanges pulled the shaft seal. Used the old seal as a seal driver. Reinstalled every thing with new gaskets and a new carburetor screw. Set the valves to spec. Complete the rebuild and there you have it. Rebuild the carburetor while you have it apart. Seal-O Ring
★★★★★
★★★★★
(1)
PartSelect Number PS9294749
Manufacturer Part Number 691917
The Seal-O Ring, also known as the gasket, is red in color, made of rubber, and is an OEM part that requires some skill to replace. This part is designed to create a seal between the carburator and manifold, to prevent air from entering. If your engine loses power, creates a hissing noise, or if the gasket appears damaged or your engine running improperly it may be time to replace the part. If you run the engine and spray the outside of the carburator with soapy water, you can test whether or not the gasket is leaking by listening to the sounds produced. If the sound smooths out then you've found your leaky gasket. Damage may occur over time, especially if the part dries out, and make the part appear stretched or worn out. When making this medium-difficulty repair, make sure the new gasket is fitted properly between the carburetor and intake manifold.
