Grill needed replacing - it literally fell apart
The grill is located on the top of the microwave - above the door. The plastic seems to have just deteriorated - the plastic around the screws just cracked. There was also another crack on the side of the grill assembly. The micrawave is fairly new (4 years old) and we don't use any harsh cleaners on the plastic grill because it has never required it. The unit is also vented to the outside - so it doesn't get exposed to alot of heat. To put on the new grill - it took 5 minutes, two small phillips head screws. My only question is why did the plastic just fall apart

Vent Grille
Second I began work on the cracked grill. I removed the phillips head screw on the left side of the grill, then removed the phillips head screw on the right side of the grill. I pulled the old grill off straight out. I opened the new grill package. I started to install the new grill by insert the bottom part first, then insert the top tabs and guide second, make sure I pushed slightly on the grill so it seated top and bottom at the same time. I installed both phillips head screws, left and right side, and completed the job. Read more...

Grill was cracked and Filter was wearing Out
First I removed the old air/grease filter from the exhaust fan. It get washed monthly, so after several years of use, it was time to replace it. Once the old filter was removed, I opend the new filter package, slide the new filter into the filter slot from left to right. Once in all the way, I slide it back to the right to set it completely.
