Range Mounting Plate Assembly

This mounting plate, also known as a bracket, is crucial for keeping your microwave mounted to the wall, when placed above the stove. This OEM part is sold separately from the screws that are needed to hold it in place. You will need a screwdriver in order to secure the mounting bracket into place. Part has been substituted. Part is no longer a U-shaped bracket, it is now a flat mounting plate and will function the same.

I needed to acquire and install a mounting plate for an over the range microwave
I attached the mounting plate to the wall as directed in the installation instructions which I had downloaded from GE. This procedure took 45 minutes to complete. I was then able to mount the microwave.

Owners manual list 1/4 which was sent for the mounting bolts. They don't fit. This unit required metric. Don't try to force the bolts, just match to closest metric.

Range Anti-tip Kit

The anti-tip bracket kit comes with one metal bracket and two installation screws, and is sourced directly from the genuine manufacturer. It prevents the freestanding oven, range, or stove from tipping when force or weight is applied to an open oven door. The bracket is secured to the floor and wall and fits over the rear leveling leg in the back of the appliance, in a cutout specifically designed for the anti-tip bracket. This part is very essential to the safe operation of the appliance. Failure to install the bracket properly can result in the oven tipping or falling and causing injuries.

I was selling my home and did not realize that the anti-tip bracket was not originally installed. A home inspection caught the problem and the buyers required that I install one. I could not find the original and obviously the installer never put it in place to begin with. The buyers wanted this resolved within a week so I had to act fast. I could not find one locally so I found what I needed on your website. It arrived in a couple of days and was easy to install. I used the template provided in the kit and drove the screws through the bracket into the wood plate behind the drywall. Pushed the range back in place and that's it. Couldn't get any easier.

removed door (no tools required - just lift and pull door out of range). removed front door panel with a screwdriver. removed/replaced door hinge with nutdriver. replaced front door panel with screwdriver. replaced door on range (again, no tools required). then installed tip-over bracket to floor/wall behind range. measured location, drilled pilot holes and installed wood screws into the floor and rear wall stud.
