This OEM cup filter is designed to be compatible with all rear-filter refrigerators made before April 2001. The filter fits into a round white plastic housing. For this repair you may also require the PS428513 wrench or PS428532 O-ring. To install you will need to unscrew the cup before you can see the old filter, and then dump the water. Pull the old filter straight down and place the new filter inside the filter cup. The end of the filter with the O-ring should be directed upward. As you tighten the filter it will align itself. If your refrigerator has a Change Filter light, it will need to be reset. Press and hold this button until the green light flashes (up to 15 seconds). This filter has a 2-Inch depth, 4.25-Inch height, 2-Inch width and needs to be replaced every 6 months of use or 200 gallons depending on which comes first. Filters for: Taste and odor Sediment 99.3% of Lead 99.99% of Cysts 99.7% of Turbidity 99.8% of Particulates (Class I) 94.9% of Atrazine (a herbicide) 94.2% of 2,4-D (a herbicide) 97.8% of Chlorine (Class I) 87.5% of Toxaphene (a pesticide).

Reference ice maker placement . Hello sir , my ice maker works fine . What happens is that the ice falls out of the tray . Looks like it my be mounted to far in . Is there any way I can check the placement of the ice maker ? The tray is in all the way and the ice comes out of the door as it should. Thank you in advance.
For model number FRSGR3JW4
Hi JP, Thank you for the question. There should only be one spot to mount the icemaker. It is possible the icemaker is making to much ice and over flowing, I suggest checking the Shut Off Arm on the ice maker to make sure it is not damaged or stuck. Also check where the arm attaches to the ice maker to make sure it is not damaged. Hope this helps!

I am looking for a replacement filter for my Whirlpool refrigerator. Also my icemaker just stopped making ice. The water is not making it to the icemaker.
For model number ED5LVAXWQ00
Hi Jamie, thank you for your question. I have listed the correct filter for your appliance below. There are two parts that you should check for this issue. The first part to test would be your water inlet valve. The valve has two solenoids that control either the dispenser or the ice maker. Even if your dispenser is working the ice maker solenoid may not be and vise versa. The valve can be tested with a multi meter and should be reading between 500 - 1500 ohms of resistance. If that part is testing correctly then you should look into your ice maker being the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
I need to replace my filter for sure but will a bad filter stop the water dispenser from giving water.Ice maker works fine but water just dribbles or runs a few seconds then stops.
thanks for info
also will the puresource replacement you have fit my frig?
For model number FRS6R5ESBL
Hello Brenda, thank you for your question. Yes, a bad filter can cause the water to not dispense properly from the door. I would recommend replacing the filter, PartSelect Number: PS503627, and see if that fixes the issue. I hope this helps!

I own a Whirlpool model ed25pqxdw04 and want to buy and change my water filter model ril 10 (hooked up to my refrigerator now). Can you help me?
For model number RIL-10
Hello Jarlath, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, this appliance model number (ed25pqxdw04) was not manufactured with a filtration system. If you had one added to the unit, and the filter part number is PureSource Replacement Filter WFCB - the following link will take you to an installation video. I hope this helps!

Ice maker is not making ice. Tried removing filter but unable to loosen. Any suggestions. Thanks
For model number FRS26ZRF
Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your inquiry. If your ice maker is not making ice, There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the ice maker, the dual water inlet valve, the shut-off arm spring, the gear, the ice maker thermal cut-off and the microswitch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Aged parts broken
After sitting in a cold refrigerator for year after year, plastic becomes brittle and breaks. This is what started happening to my shelves and door bins. The problem a lot of times is getting the right part since some of the parts do not have numbers.
This website gives a accurate description and best of all photos on an inch grid, so I can measure what I have and find what I need. This time everything was perfect and fit easily. took no time and just like that I have almost double the space again. Funny how that works. Once before I didn't get the right piece so just pay attention to the dimensions.
I turned the cap for the old filter and pulled it out . Then I put in the new one in and turned the cap to secure it in frig.

water from refigerator dispenser started tasting bad
I removed the top shelf in the fridge. I then unscrewed the cover to the water filter and pulled the filter cartridge down into the cover. Keep the cover upright as there may be some water in it. I carried it to the sink. I took the new cartridge and ran water through it from the sink, then set it in the cover and took it to the fridge. I pushed the cartridge up into the space that I removed the old one from and screwed the cover back on. Then I took an empty pitcher and filled it from the water dispenser in the fridge door. I did this three times to charge the filter and remove charcoal dust. Water tastes great now. I ordered two filters so I would ony have to buy once a year. Great site to order the filters from. Cheaper than other sources and delivery was quick.

Fridge evaporator frozen not cooling
First i killed the power and water supply to fridge. Then i removed all the racks in freezer and the 1/4" screws for rack supports with nut driver. Next i removed the evaporator cover 1/4" screws to gain access. Then i removed the the 1/4" screw that holds the evaporator at the bottom and moved the evaporator outward to remove the heater element. Then i installed new heater element from the bottom of the evaporator making sure it was in the center of the evap coils. Next i replaced the defrost thermostat cutting the old wires. Then stripped and crimpped the new thermostat in place making sure of the same installed postion as removed. Next i replaced the defrost timer located at the bottom left using philips head screw driver. Next i replaced the water filter by turning it counterclockwise to remove. Then restored power and water supply. Next i tested the heater element by turning the dial on the defrost timer clockwise until it clicked and watched the element glow. Then waited for the deforst thermostat to shut off the heater. Finally i checked the evaporator drain iin the back of fridge for blockage and cleaned out completely. Repairs successful fridge good as new.
I removed the filter casing containing the casing, removed the filter and replaced it with the new filter and screwed the casing in place tightening with the wrench.. It took less than 5 minutes and was the easiest replacement Ive ever done.
The water coming from the dispensor (and the ice cubes) had an off taste
I didn't know where to go to get the filter, so I went to Parts Select.com, they had the filter in stock. I placed the order and when I received the part (in about 4 days) I was able to get it put in & working in about 15 minutes. The water from the dispensor & the ice cubes taste a lot better. Now that I know where to get parts I won't wait that long to change out the water filter.
