Question:

I removed the drain pump motor assuming is was bad because of an oe error code and no obvious blockage. How can i be sure of the exact replacement part, it looks the same. And what about these after market parts; 1/3 the price. My washer has 2 pumps i focused on the drain motor, assuming the other would be ok. Any thoughts?

Arnie for model number WM0742HWA
October 27, 2017
Answer:

Hi Arnie, Thank you for your question. There are three causes for the OE error code on your machine. Either there are blockages in your drain pump, your drain filter is clogged, or your drain hose is bent/blocked. I would suggest you check both your filter and hoses as well. I would not be able to comment on after market parts because we only deal in OEM parts. The second pump is just your circulation pump and does not have anything to do with your draining. It just makes sure that any suds inside of the drain tube leading from your drum get's cycled back into the cleaning process. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

We had an error code come up saying that the drain screen ro drain hose may be blocked. We have had this before and it was no big deal to clear the screen. However, this time, the screen was clean and rather than removing the drain hose, thought to blow it out to see if there was a blockage. Nothing blocking, air passed through fine. Put the machine back together, ran a rinse and spin cycle and it performed fine. Ran the next load of laundry and it again came up with a code saying it could not drain again. ***note, the drain motor was pretty loud while running after i had already drained the tub when checking for blockages. Possibly because there was no water to pump? Not sure where to go from here.....new pump? your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Peter, Thank you for your inquiry. I would advise checking the drain pump to see if it has any clogs and test it with a multimeter to see if it has continuity. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

Answer:

Hello Ever, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: drain pump and motor assembly-even to make sure it's not clogged, check the drain hoses, the stator assembly and rotor assembly (these work together to rotate the drum and it may not be spinning fast enough to get all the water out), and the spider assembly. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

Question:

My LG washer will leak water on to the floor anytime we do a light load of cloths. There is no apparent leaking while doing medium or heavy loads. The puddle of water forms under the area where the drain pump/filter is located.

Donovan for model number WM2301HW
April 13, 2018
Answer:

Hello Donovan, thank you for your question. If the unit is leaking around the drain pump/filter area, we would recommend checking the filter to be sure its not clogged, as well as the hoses that lead to and from the drain pump. with the access panel removed, run a small load and watch to see if you can notice exactly where the leak is coming from. It might be from a hose, or the drain pump itself. If those parts are not leaking, check to see if the water is leaking down from the dispenser or the water valve and dripping down to the bottom of the unit. I hope this helps!

Further question. I started the washer as you suggested, pulled the plug and the water stopped coming in. Not clear from your previous response if this means a defective water inlet valve (hot or cold, response is the same). Or if it is the pressure switch. Thanks

Answer:

Hello Gert, thank you for your question. If the water stopped coming in when power was removed from the unit the valves are working. I would recommend testing/replacing the pressure switch and the pressure hose.

Question:

Does this water pump work for my LG model, after trying to wash with my washer, the washer stops when spinning at around 7 minutes and shows oe. The water stays inside my washer and i’ve already checked the filter and everything seems fine. Also i hear a sound at the bottom of the washer before it stops.

Mario for model number WM3370HWA

Answer:

Hello Mario, thank you for your question. OE error code indicates that the washer is unable to drain the water it used during the wash cycle. OE can be triggered by a kinked drain hose or a clogged drain pump filter. If those have been checked you will want to replace the drain pump part number PartSelect Number PS3579318. Good luck with your repair!

Question:

My front loader is on an elevated platform. Can i pull the unit partially out and replace the pump from the bottom. That implies i would leave the front panel in place and have to disconnect the motor from the pump from the bottom. Maybe the 3 screws (motor to pump) would be too hard to get to. Your advice please. The motor part # is ps 3579318. the pump is still pumping water out but very noisy.

Question:

I have an error code 1e. Water overfills to half way up door then shows error code. Drain hose works well, no kinks. Inflow hoses open. Soap dispenser top left and filter bottom left clean. I can force drain it by "spin high" and that empties water out. Doesn't seem like drain pump motor since does drain on over ride. Inlet valve seems to be working since fills fine (over fills). Could it be inlet valve sensor that doesn't sense that the right amount of water is dispensed?

Gert for model number WM2016CW
November 6, 2018
Answer:

Hello Gert, thank you for your question. It sounds like the issue is with the water valve or the pressure sensor switch. Try shutting off power to the washer while the machine is filling with water. If the washer continues to fill with water even when it is not getting power, this indicates that the water inlet valve is defective. The pressure switch shuts off power to the water inlet valve when the proper water level is reached. If the pressure switch fails, the water inlet valve will continue to fill the washer tub with water, causing the washer to overflow. Before replacing the pressure switch, check the air tube to the pressure switch to ensure that it is clear of debris and is not leaking. I hope this helps!

I have a LG front load washer that has a TE code

Phil for model number WM2050 C
April 10, 2018
Answer:

Hi Phil, Thank you for your question. The TE error code indicates that your heating sensor is malfunctioning. You can try resetting your appliance first. The first thing that you will want to do is unplug your appliance for about 5 minutes. After doing that power up your machine again. If the error persists then you might have to replace your heat sensor. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Washing maching wouldn't drain
Removed the top of the washer by removing the 4 back screws and 2 small brackets. Then I removed the front panel, this was actually the hardest part, 2 screws and 8 tabs that you pop out carefully from the top of the panel. I only disconnected the power button and was able to rest the panel on top of the washer. The rest of the washer came apart quickly just moving down the front of the washer and removing the door, latch, tub gasket, drain cover. Removing the pump was just a mater of disconnecting the drain hoses, and one clip under the drain assembly. 3 screws attach the drain to assembly to the pump and only 2 wires that are clearly marked. Reassembly is just going back through in reverse order of disassenbly. The best thing about this is that it all comes apart with a standard phillips screwdriver.

Pump rotor broke off shaft.
There are two pumps in this system. I turned the washer on its side and took off bottom plate. There are several screws holding this on. I then took the entire pump assembly off. There are 3 screws holding each pump on the brown plastic body. Each pump has a positive and negative lead. I switched out the pump and reassembled. The hardest part is getting the 3 "shock absorbers in place with the rubber sleeves. I think the book suggest getting to the pump from the front side but I went through the bottom. Worked good. I did wonder however if the other pump was working. Do you need two pump working to get flow? By replacing one pump I went from no flow to good flow. Cost me $75.00

Washer would not drain
I followed the steps outlined on (several) web sites detailing the replacement process. Just Google " LG front load washer won't drain". A couple of small quirks cropped up that required some adaptations such as: I had to purchase an automotive hose clamp to reinstall the main tub drain hose to the pump manifold. I couldn't get the oem clamp back on. It kept slipping out to the jaws of my pliers and I don't own a pair of those clamp pliers that make the job easy. Also, the hex head/phillips screws used to attach the front panel to the frame were very tightly installed AND they had their heads rounded off! I didn't have the hand strength to make the phillips screwdriver loosen them so I used a pair of vise grips to carefully start the process and used the phillips to finish. Finally, the wire loop used to retain the big gasket that seals the front had door is tricky to reinstall. It took two people to get it right. All in all , the videos make the job pretty routine.

Washer was not draining
I shut the water off, unplugged the machine, and had to scoop the water out of the drum. When I opened the drain filter, about another half gallon of water came out. There are two screws that hold on each clip that secures the top. They are hard to see if you have a cramped laundry room and can't see behind the machine. The top slides back about 1-2 inches and lifts up, it can be tough to get it started. The rest of the machine came apart easily, just go slow and look for more screws if it does not come apart. I pried on the band that secures door near the spring to keep from distorting it. The website video was pretty good. The pump assembly has to come out the machine to replace it, the use a 10MM socket. Be careful not to over tighten when you reinstall. They are threading back into plastic. A long set of needle nose pliers works well for the clamps on the 3 hoses. Be sure to get all wiring back into it holders or vibration could cause grounding or shorting issues. I took some time to clear the small drain that is in the door seal. It was clogged with debris. The band was the most difficult thing to put back on. Start at the top. I used a flat screwdriver to help, but be careful not to poke a hole in the seal.

Washer drain pump failure
I watched the video on repairing an LG front load washer. Even though mine is a washer/dryer all-in-one unit to repair was pretty much the same. the only real change with my unit is there are two screws in the area of the bottom filter/drain hose that needs to be removed to be able to take the bottom panel off. This will reveal two more screws to take the front door panel off. To avoid a wet mess, take a wet/dry vac and suck as much water out of the drain hose as you can and have to available to catch any left over water that spills when the hoses are removed. Another thing that can be very useful is to use a piece of cardboard. When you remove the various screws, push them into the cardboard and label each set for reassembly.

Washing machine not draining / stopping after wash cycle
I first checked to make sure that there was not a clogged pipe. After making sure that was not the issue, I replaced the drain pump. It was VERY easy following this youtube video, step by step. The hardest part was the getting the ring (with a spring on it) back around the part by the door. I had someone help me stretch it, and hold it so that I could feed it back on. A tool to stretch the spring would have been helpful.
