Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
The water inlet valve in your washer connects to the water source and solenoid wires, and ensures the tub has the right amount of water entering it. If your washing machine continues to fill after it is full, or if it fills slowly, you may need to replace this valve. Before you begin this repair, be sure to disconnect the water and power sources from your washer. This part is sold individually.

Why buy the real thing?

Cold water not shutting off
Unplugged washer. Disconnected water line, Removed 2 screws then removed clips for hoses on inlet valve. Replaced valve and hooked hises back up. Replaced plate or rear of washer and plugged back in. Works great and even with cost of 1 day delivery, saved at least $200 doing myself.

Water was building up inside drum while machine was off.
I unplugged the washer shut off the water and disconnected the hoses. Then removed the top lid and removed old valves and installed new ones. Very easy plug and play installation.
Water continued to flow into machine during drying cycle and afterwards
This was a very easy repair. Just followed the steps in the videos on the website (I replaced both the hot and cold inlet valves, so two different videos, but the process for each is similar) and it couldn't have been simpler.
Water would fill the basin when the washer wasn't used. I followed the video created by this site to make the repair. The video gave me the confidence that I could successfully make the repair myself. The hardest part was physically moving my washer out of its corner to make the repair. The parts were plug and play. Awesome!!
Water was slowly filling up in washer tub, after I would wash clothes 2 or 3 days later there would be water standing in the washing machine.
I looked this problem up on YouTube like I do with everything, I saw a video from this site.. so I ordered what I needed from the website. The parts came in I unpluged the washer from the wall very important, I literally removed 6 Philips head screws and unclipped the wires from the parts and removed the hoses with the pliers, hoses hav
... Read moree squeeze clamps. Put in New parts put hoses back on wiring back on and I was done.. it took me a total of maybe 10 minutes.. NO MORE WATER standing in the washer.. Thank you!! I would recommend you add a video for the Inlet Valve Assembly like you have for the hot inlet valve though...
Water continued to fill into the drum slowly after the load was done.
Watched a you tube video and followed the instructions. Even had my 11 and 13 yo old help and do most of the work. Very easy to fix both hot and cold inlet at the same time. Didn't know which one was causing the problem so I decided to replace both.

My washer keeps filling with cold water even when unplugged. A local store tested the 4 inlet valves and they would all open/close properly when given current. What can the problem be?
For model number mw1832cw
Hi Letellier,
Thank you for your question. The Water Inlet Valve on your washing machine is used to fill the tub with cold, warm or hot water for the wash and rinse cycles. The valve is operated by electric solenoids that are controlled by the timer or electronic control board and the water level control/water level selector switch or pressure switch. If your washer continues to fill during a cycle, the water inlet valve could be at fault. To verify that the valve is at fault, unplug the washer when the symptom occurs. If the washer continues to fill, then the water inlet valve is defective. If the washer stops filling, then the problem is related to the electrical circuit that controls the valve. Also, The water level switch is a pressure activated switch that is used to determine the correct water level in the tub. This part is normally located behind the control panel and will have a hose or air dome tube that connects it to the tub. On washers that use an electronic control, this switch may be located at the sump area below the tub. As the water fills in the tub it will compress the air in the tube and push against a diaphragm inside the switch. The switch will control the water inlet valve and turn the valve off at the correct water level. If the tube has a leak or is plugged, not enough pressure may be created to activate the switch and the washer may overfill. If the switch is defective it may also cause the machine to overfill. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

While my washer is off ,it still can fill up with a couple of gallons of water over night. We came back from vacation after a week . And it was up to the door.
For model number Wm2487H*M
Hi Joe. Thank you for the question. It sounds like the water inlet valve is "stuck" open and letting water into the tub while not in use. To fix this issue you will need to replace the Water Valve. Hope this helps!

How do i know to replace the water valve inlet or just the hot water valve inlet? One is $17-$25 the other is $65-$90.
For model number WM2487H*MA
Hi Carlo,
Thank you for your inquiry. To verify which water inlet valve is working correctly, you will need a multimeter to check the continuity of each part. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Code FE is displayed. Which part needs to be replaced?
Thank you.
For model number WM2487H*MA
Hi Patricia, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our research, this error code means your LG washer is overfilled. The main cause of this problem is that your intake valves are faulty and not turning off when they should. To fix the problem, you will need to replace the intake valves, part number PS3527431. Before replacing the water inlet valve, you will need to check the continuity of the valve to make sure a continuous electronic path is present or not. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

Leaking water in the drum. Do you change both valves? Are they the same part number?
For model number LG WM2487HWMA
Hi Steve, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, there are two inlet valves in your model. The water inlet valve, part number PS3527431, and the hot water inlet valve, part number PS3527427. Check both valves and replace the faulty one. We hope this helps!
