Dispenses ice and crushes ice, but does not dispense water. I did change the water filter and it still does not dispense water.
For model number ZISS420DXASS

Hi Ramesh, Thank you for your question. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. First you will need to check the water inlet valve to see if it is allowing water to the water dispenser. The dispenser door solenoid assembly,This part is a possible option when ice door won't open or shut properly or when water is not dispensing. The micro switch, This switch is responsible for sending the signal to dispense water. You can test these parts with an Ohm meter to check for resistance. Hope this helps!

The water line was freezing up frequently. I purchased the dispenser water tube heater kit. I was able to remove the plastic trim and the electrical board on the freezer door, but the dispenser housing shield would not come off even though i removed all 4 screws. It is loose on the left, but the right side is solid. I am afraid i will break the whole assembly if i force it.
For model number GSH25JSTCSS

Hello Ken, Thank you for your inquiry. It is supposed to just pull right out after you've removed the 4 screws so there may be a piece broken off or cracked. I would try sliding a plastic card in the right side and pushing in gently while trying to pull it out. Hope this helps!

For model number GSH25JSXLSS

Good Day Martin. Thank you for your question in regards to your unit (Model Number GSH25JSXLSS). Based on our research, once the screws come off then the Dispenser Housing Shield should pull right out. If this is not the case then there may be something that is blocking it from coming out.

Trying to defrost the water line in the refrigerator door I melted (deformed) the plastic parts.
I carefully removed the trim from around the dispenser area then freed the catches in the top of the electronic card. I leaned the card forward and disconnected the electrical connections, then removed the card. I removed the four screws holding the shield to the door and removed the shield. Then I removed the funnel from the shield and removed the spring from the old funnel and placed it on the new one. I removed the light and socket from the old shield and installed the in the new one, then installed the new funnel on the new shield, used the four screws to install the assembly on the door and replaced the trim piece.

Ice dispenser door sticking open.
Unplugged power cord. Used a small screw driver to release the bottom of the control panel. Pulled it out and unplugged wires, then set it aside. Removed 4 screws from the housing shield and pulled it out. Now the solenoid assembly and related parts are accessable. I removed the solenoid assembly by loosening the top screw and removing the 2 bottom screws. This was the main problem, but I also replaced related parts that were worn or corroded. I also cleaned and disinfected everything in there while I had it apart because it was pretty nasty! Now it works like new.

The unit will not dispense water, but does make and dispence ice.
I replaced that part, but I still have the same problem, no water is dispensed. I believe I may need a circuit board. The problem was not the parts I replaced.

Unit was not dispensing water nor ice.
Removed the plastic frame by pushing to the inside (all 4 sides), removed touch pad by sliding it to my right and disconnected the wires. Removed the four screws that hold the dispensing unit and replaced broken parts. Please note that I also replaced the funnel. Total cost of repair for DIY $30.00, savings by avoiding repair man, priceless.

Frozen water dispenser line; install water line heater
This should have been easy, but I couldn't get the housing shield off. I removed the 4 screws but it wouldn't come off. It seemed to be stuck in the lower right. (It seems that many people have the same problem.) I decided to destroy the old one and install a new dispenser housing shield, and replace the flapper while I was at it. I finally got the shield off (by taking a pipe wrench to it and breaking it into little pieces) and discovered what the problem was: the light in the lower right had melted the plastic of the dispenser shield, which fused to the plastic of the housing! Bad design, GE! After that, it was no problem. However, I couldn't remember how to replace the microswitch. I should have taken a picture, first. Duh. Lucky for me, Parts Select had a very informative video showing how to replace the microswitch. ! was saved! Thanks, Part Select!

Easy fix
I need my guard trying to thaw out the frozen water line. This was an easy replacement and the water and ice dispenser now work as expected.
Tom H - January 22, 2019

Exact fit
The old part became deformed after trying to thaw out the water dispenser line with a hair dryer on "low". Part installed easily, so now I can at least get ice. Water dispenser freezes up even in the summer time, poor design flaw.

Superior transaction
I originally ordered this part from a competitor who I had used in the past. After 2.5 months of backordered status updates decided to shop elsewhere. This part was on my doorstep 2 days after ordering it. Need I say more?
