Hi Harvey, Thank you for your question. The capacitor is not connected to the magnetron. There are wires that are connected to the capacitor that will have to be removed before replacing it. For safety reasons, since the microwave capacitor can still store electricity even when the microwave is unplugged, it is usually advised that you discharge the capacitor before any attempt at repair.
