MAIN CONTROL BOARD Specifications

The main board assembly, also known as an electronic control board, is an authentic OEM replacement part used in refrigerators. It has dimensions of approximately 10 inches in by 6 inches. It controls the various features and function of the refrigerator such as temperature regulation, ice production, defrost control, and energy usage. If the control board is malfunctioning, you may notice temperature fluctuations, difficulties dispensing ice, a blank or unresponsive display panel and unusual noises such as clicking or humming. So my problem was that the lights in the fridge section had failed (they were very dim.) Unfortunately that means a new main control board! The hardest part of the installation was pulling the refrigerator out of its cubby-hole far enough to get behind it and do the work. Small kitchen... Unplugged the unit. (ALWAYS!) On the back of the unit was a panel held by 2 screws. Took them out, and the panel off. there was the board to replace. Undid all the connectors (easy, and don't worry about which goes where too much, as they are on a cable harness and each connector only goes one place. I swapped the board in, reconnected all the connectors, put the panel back on, and plugged the unit in. Lights now work! All other functions still work fine.

After power outage, my refrigerator would not cool after power came back.
After looking up what might be the problem, I ordered a new control
board. It was extremely easy to replace. Unfortunately it was not operational. I had to replace my refrigerator. The return process was very easy and my refund was processed quickly.

Refrigerator compartment would not cool (58 deg F), freezer maintained 0 deg F
It dawned upon us, after stumbling across chunky milk and crisper starting to freeze items, perhaps the fridge was not working properly. Checking temps the compartment would run 57 to 59 deg F, yet the freezer was perfectly fine 0 deg F. Rather than trouble shoot what component was the driving issue, I decided to replace all the main components: motherboard, compartment fan, blend door assy. Motherboard was quite simple: two screws for a cover on the back, unplug all the harness connectors, plug back in. Compartment fan simply slid out and new one back in with a little trickery for the wiring (I just cut the old fan harness rather than fight the wire routing plastic piece). The blend door assy was the most complicated but just a series of 1/4" nut screws and disassembly. Fridge now maintains 35 deg compartment temp. I'm not certain which component was the culprit (leaning towards motherboard, as I look back some the interior lighting may not have been working properly, which also suggest MB), however I'm glad $450 in parts brought fridge back to life any not $3k for a new one.

Refrigerator would warm up while freezer got colder
Repair man thought it was the control board and an issue with a relay on the board. Purchased the new board but found out the board was fine, and it was the recirculating fan that would go out intermediately.

Tried ordering that part from Part Select since they have been great, but GE discontinued the part and their was not a replacement available. After much research, found the new replacement part number and ordered that, it went in quickly and for now seems to have solved the problem.

Trying to diagnose Warm freezer. The fan in the freezer has power but does not run. I tested and found 14v reading at connector. The fan would not show and resistance. While cleaning the condenser coils, it was noted the condenser fan was not working. I was unable to find power at the connector for the condenser fan. is there a test to find what's at fault at this point?

Hi David, thank you for reaching out. The issue may be caused by a malfunctioning condenser fan motor or by the condenser fan not receiving enough power. Since the condenser fan shows no power, begin by checking the wiring and connections for the condenser fan and its circuit. If the wiring and connections are sound, test the condenser fan motor for continuity with a multimeter. If there's no continuity, the motor is likely faulty. You will need to replace the condenser fan motor, part number PS11726965, to fix the issue. We hope this helps.
