I really liked the video on how to repair my mixer. It made it very easy. After I bought the grease for $72.00 I looked on Amazon and it was a lot cheaper. You should make a smaller size because you don’t need a lot to repair one mixer. I don’t know why a relatively small container costs so much.

Mixer only had 2 speeds with the smell of electrical burning.
This mixer was given to me 8-10 yrs ago with only 2 speeds (cant believe i waited this long to fix it). Repair went good, wasn't sure what i should replace so i replaced Control board, control plate, governor, grease in the gears and the transmission gasket. I first took any and ALL measurements for any screws on the control plate, this w
... Read moreill help when you set your mixer speeds when its all back together. When installing the new governor i used a 10mm socket and a mallet to seat it all the way till it stops on the set pin. installed the new control board, with thermal grease on the back of the plate(very important). Didn't need to replace the grease in the gears, but i figured since i was in there id replace it. (No smells and all gears work) I used it to ground 5lbs of elk into burger (speed 4) after repairs and it worked great. Still have about 15lbs left to do and itll do it with out braking a sweat. Maybe i should open up a repair shop to fix these suckers...lol its that easy. What really helped with the repairs is the youtube video from Partselect. Second to none with a step by step on how to replace and repair just about anything on your mixer. Good deal, if i need to replace anything else i know where to go! Thanks
I took all the grease out of the top of the mixer. Saw that the gear was worn. When the new parts came I put as much grease in as was in before. Put it back together and it worked like a champ.

Good Day Randy. Thank you for your question in regards to your part number W11200218). This Grease (Approx 1 pound) is used in all of the KitchenAid Mixers. It is a specialized grease used for food preparation. It is food grade grease using mineral based oil, which makes it food safe. Do not attempt to use a petroleum based grease in any KitchenAid product. Hope this helps. Best regards.

How do you check the grease level. Mixer was laid its side and lost some grease.

I have oil (Broken down Grase, I assume) dripping down the mixer shaft. Is it deteriorated grease only or could it also be a shaft sheal of some type?

Thank you for your question. If you have oil leaking from your mixer, it is coming from the gearbox. The grease inside the gearbox has separated causing the oil part of the grease to leak out. Grease can separate as a result of age, overuse, or underuse. The part number listed under your model number for the grease is W11200218.
