Can just the splined shaft from the trans that drives the agitator be replaced? The shaft sheared off where it enters the agitator. How did the shaft break and not the plastic? Or do I need the whole trans?

Hi Pete, thank you for getting in touch. The shaft you are looking for does not come separately. It comes in an assembly with the transmission. The compatible transmission kit for your model is part number PS12343556. The shaft can break due to the heavy or misaligned load. It is the shaft that drives the agitator, so it is possible for the shaft to break instead of the plastic part. We hope that helps!

Hi, I have a GE model # GUD24ESSMWW, is the transmission supposed to have a play to the sides or up and down when the belt is removed from the pulley? With the belt off the pulley the clutch will engage into it just fine but when I put a new belt on it will not and in the spin cycle it will just make a grinding noise.Could it be a wrong belt size or a bad transmission due to the play it has?
