How do I remove the panel in the top of this model to change water valve
For model number WRX988SIBM01
PartSelect logo
Hello David, Thank you for the question. On this Model the water valve is in the upper ceiling inside of the refrigerator. To access the valve. you will need to unplug the refrigerator to disconnect power. Next open both doors. Remove the top shelves. Remove the ice box fascia using a flat blade screwdriver and pull out bottom of fascia to release the upper tabs. If your ice box has a revised ice box fascia with a heater, you will need to disconnect the fascia heater wiring harness. Next remove the water filter. Using a ¼” nut driver remove the two screws from under the water filter door. Starting from the ice box side, place a flat head screw driver between the water reservoir cover and refrigerator liner creating a gap to place your hand between the two. Working from left to right, slide your hand between the water reservoir cover and refrigerator liner to release the snaps. Remove the water reservoir cover by sliding it forward and disconnect the LED lighting connector. This should expose the valve. Hope this helps!

How do i remove the top panel to gain access to the secondary valve and plumbing to find the source of a water leak?
For model number KRMF706ESS

Hello Doug, thank you for your question. Open the doors and remove the shelving from the right side of the fridge compartments. Depress the tab on the cover then bend the cover outward to remove. Then use a flat head screw driver to depress the tabs to release the lower access panel. Release the center retaining clip to remove the upper access panel and then you will have access to the valve. I hope this helps!

Does this part failure cause water to run continuously into the icemaker?
For model number KRFF507HBS00
PartSelect logo
Hi Jim, thank you for reaching out. The water inlet valve requires a minimum of 20 psi to shut off properly. If the water pressure is too low, the valve may not close fully once the power is shut off. As a result, the valve will leak water into the ice maker and cause the ice maker to overflow. Check the water pressure to determine if it is at least 20 psi. If the water pressure is sufficient, the water inlet valve is likely defective. The valve may not shut off all the way or may be stuck open, causing water to leak through the valve. If the water pressure is sufficient, but the ice maker is still overflowing, replace the water inlet valve, part number PS11753251. Good luck with this repair!

Hello Carlotta, Thankyou for reaching out. The most common issue is the Water Filter needing to be replaced. It is recommended the filter to be replaced every 6 months. If the Filter is good, you may have a faulty Water Inlet Valve. Good luck with the repair!

My ice maker does not make any ice. I replaced the ice maker assembly. When I did, I noticed there wasn't any water in the ice maker assembly. My water dispenser works normally and when I put ice cubes in the ice bucket assembly, the auger works normally and the bucket dispensers the ice cubes. What should be my next troubleshooting step?
