Turns out the part has two broken pieces of the thin edge that keeps the belt tracking in the pulley. Looks like the part was broken before is was sealed in its bag because the missing pieces were not inside.

Need it a new pulley and belt
I did the repair all by my self and just payed for the parts.
Remove the front of the washer. Remove the pump and motor assembly using the 1/2 inch socket. Remove the pump from the motor and hoses from the pump. Replace the bad idler pulley and place new belt on pulley. Reassemble the pump to the motor and install the assembly back into the washing machine. Reasemble the hoses and put belt on drive

Squeak and slight burning smell during spin cycle.
I took off the lower front panel and “watched” with a flashlight during the spin cycle. I could see that the idler pulley was intermittently stopping and starting. The back of the drive belt was also worn in the center. When the idler pulley was moving, it squeaked, when it didn’t, the friction wore the belt and made the smell.

Be thankful for the money you saved on a service call.
pulley was worn out and would not turn belt was also worn outand had chunks out of it
Laid washer on its side and had to remove the motor,replaced the pulley and belt replaced the motor and put all parts back together washer spins and runs like it did when it was new.we did not need the screw or nut but did not know when ordering parts

Washer broke belt & Idler pulley
First removed all screws with a nutdriver then lifted the body from the base. Removed the two hoses at the pump (be ready for excess water). Removed the 9/16 bolts (4) to drop the motor assy. I also took off the two front balance springs to have easy access. I at this point was able to remove the pulley and put new belt & pump on the moto

Had to pull the motor to change the belt
Unplugged washer from power source. Dissconnect the water supply. Take off lower panel. Undo big spring. Remove 4 bolts that hold the motor. Unplug the motor. remove motor and belt. While on the bench I regreased the Idler pulley. then reverse the procedure to reassemble

Thank you for your inquiry. The customers who have commented on the idler puller have also left instructions as to how install the part. Here is one customer's comment on how he fixed the issue, "I took off the lower front panel and “watched” with a flashlight during the spin cycle. I could see that the idler pulley was intermittently stopping and starting. The back of the drive belt was also worn in the center. When the idler pulley was moving, it squeaked, when it didn’t, the friction wore the belt and made the smell.

I found the plastic pulley had fallen off the metal sleeving. Will just putting it back on fix the pulley? Does the metal shaft need lubricating?

Spin speed builds then a little snap and it slows and starts to build again. Pumps and agitates fine.

Hi Jeff, thank you for your question. I would suggest taking a look at your pulley wheel and idler arm. You may also want to take a look at the belt as well. If those parts are fine then it may be the motor that is the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

I replaced the belt. The washer agitates but doesn’t spin. The pulley wheel is rough on one side so I am considering replacing that. Is there anything else I should be checking. I can manually spin the agitator and the spin on the machine.

Agitates and pumps fine, but spins slower than normal at full speed spin setting. I replaced the belt and idler pulley but it is still slow. Clothes come out wet enough i can wring water out by hand. Any ideas?
