Freezer Door Gasket WP12550122Q

Removed screws and panel inside door. Cleaned and replaced gasket. Used blue painters tape for a few days to help keep door closed till gasket sealed properly. Easy repair.

used hair dryer to heat section that wasnt sealing. this soften gasket so magnet can can seal . you have to close door wile gasket is still hot.

I was so happy to find a gasket still available for my old refrigerator. This was an easy job, more time consuming than anything, taking out the many screws that held the old gasket in. Soaked the new gasket in warm water to make it pliable, laid it around the door frame, making sure the lip was under the screw in area. I fitted each corner first. Then I started screwing the gasket in place with the old screws starting in the middle of each side. I slowly worked my way around the freezer door until it was done. Easy repair and saved the cost of a new fridge.

Once I received the seal/gasket I put it in the dryer on low for 10 mins ( as advised) then I turn the freezer down to 0 and placed a towel over the food to keep it cool. only problem was many screws -- like 30 or so -- took a while to get off without a socket wrench and then get back on -- all while the freezer was dripping. Had to do it over a period of time.

I removed about 25 nuts from the door which held the inside panel in place. Then I removed the old gasket and placed the new one, making sure it was fitting correctly. I replaced the 25 nuts and the door was ready to go. I had to tape the door shut for a couple days so the new gasket could wear in. It took about 15 min.

When the gaskets arrived, in only two days, we unpacked them and layed them out overnight to allow them to come to room temp. The next day I emptyed the frig while my son took out the 20 or so screws around the door. We did have to put blue painters tape on the doors until the gaskets seated. We suggest this might be included with the directions. This was a very easy DIY project. I belive it will ad years of service to the frig. After all it's cheeper to maintain and repair than to replace.
