How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.
When the gaskets arrived, in only two days, we unpacked them and layed them out overnight to allow them to come to room temp. The next day I emptyed the frig while my son took out the 20 or so screws around the door. We then layed the door panel on the living room floor pulled off the old gasket replaced the new, lined up the panel and re

I belive it will ad years of service to the frig. After all it's cheeper to maintain and repair than to replace.

Can I see the written instructions for replacing the fresh food door gasket/seal before I attempt to do this myself? My fridge manufacturing number is p1326504wc, serial 0108153738. I wonder if there is a repair person available in my zip code who would replace it for me?
For model number BRD18V2C
Hello Jane,
Unplug the fridge. Snap off the top door hinge cover after opening the door and removing items from the door bins. Remove the hinge via a nutdriver, then lift the hinge off. Lift the door off. The hinge cover may have a screw to remove as well. Set the door on a flat surface. Lay your new gasket out in the sun to remove the creases. Lay the gasket out above the old one to ensure it fits. Take the old gasket out by peeling it back. Start with the middle of a longer side and use a wire cutter to snip the gasket to the door liner. Pull on it to remove it from the door liner then cut it the rest of the way, then pull straight to remove the door gasket, working around the door. Use a putty knife with tape to clear any loose foam in the groove between the door lining. Use something that is not sharp to press the hard plastic part of the new gasket underneath the liner. Start with the opposite corners first. The black piece goes under the door liner. Once it is in, use a tool to push it into place around each edge. Reinstall the door and the hinge.
Sadly, we do not offer service technicians, but with these instructions, installing the part yourself should be fairly simple.
I hope this helps.

My old 1988 Amana fridge needs a new fresh food door gasket in white, but I can't tell if I would be ordering the right size or not - 28 1/2" wide by 36" tall (bottom freezer.) Please advise how to find the product size specs? Thank you very much.
