Will a bad oven sensor cause the oven to take an extremely long time to reach selected temperature, and cause food not to cook thoroughly (on the bottom) when the oven says it has reached temperature? If not,can you possibly suggest a cause?
For model number WFE714HLAS0
Hi Terrence , Thank you for the question. Yes the Oven Sensor can cause this.I suggest testing the sensor to see if it is defective.Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. Hope this helps!

I need the lower baking element. The diagram image looks different from the part in my oven. The lower and upper elements connect to the back in the "center" of the oven wall. The parts diagram shows them with an offset to the lower left side.
For model number WFE540H0AS0
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your question. This would be the correct bake element for your appliance. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

How do I know if I need a new sensor or a new baking element? Oven takes a long time to reach the temperature desired. Once it does, the food is uncooked on the bottom of the pan and overcooked on the top of the pan.
For model number MER8674AW0
Hello Carrie,
Thanks for your question. Your issue is more likely due to the sensor, but we would recommend using a multi-meter to test both the sensor and the bake element, and replacing either if they are not showing continuity.
I hope this helps.

I have Maytag model mer8674ab0 oven that needs a replacement heat element which is under a heat cover. It has a two pronged sections that fits into the bottom middle of the back of the oven. What element is compatible? It is square shaped. The one in the diagram for the oven has the prongs on the left. That is wrong. I need a middle pronged piece. Which do you recommend.

I replaced the thermal fuse-thermostat, checked the heating sensor and it was in range for ohms 1085. Both top and bottom element still will not heat. I checked the wiring harness and there is no burnt or loose wires. Trying to figure out the next step?
For model number MER8674AWO
Hello Keith, thank you for your question. Since the sensor is testing within range and there are no burnt or broken wires on the elements the electronic control board would have to be replaced, Part Number: PS11756979. Good luck with your repair!

After watching the video, I said to my wife that this is a simple installation. However, I’m looking at the screws, I did not have the correct screwdriver to remove the screws. I had to go out and buy that. After that, it was not a problem.
I first shut off the breaker, then, after pulling the stove away from the wall, I unplugged it. I removed the two screws in the back of the stove which came off easily. I removed the two screws inside the oven and removed the bottom plate. I noticed the heating element I was changing had braces along the bottom. I had to remove the two screws and removed the burnt out element. The new element did not have the braces the original element had, but it fit in perfectly. Then I replaced all the screws, plugged it in and turned on the breaker and it worked. The only thing that we noticed is there’s a clicking sound every time the temperature increases. Not sure what that is.

Electric oven was not heating up
I read the help section and it said that the element was likely to be the problem (84%) and the fuse had a 14% chance to be the problem so I purchased both. After watching the video I tried the element first and that's what it was so I returned the fuse, Thanks for the help and video.
The company said it would cost me $698 to repair. I had a 2 year warranty and that was 2 months out of date.
Again thanks for the help.

The bottom heating element was damaged and needed to be replaced.
Followed a video I found online showing how to replace the bottom bake element. It was very easy to do. I simply unplugged the over, removed the back wire cover and detached the damaged element connectors.
I then removed the bottom oven cover which conceals the element. Unscrewed and removed the damaged element and replaced it with the new one. Connected the wires to the new element and then Installed the bottom cover along with the back wire cover and plugged the oven back in. It was really this easy.

The oven wasn't heating up to temperature. Kept showing it was preheating but never got there.
We watched the excellent video and followed the steps. We're in our 70s which is why we needed a flashlight to see the screws in the oven! So if we can do it...

Works As Advertised. I'm Very Happy
The new element arrived on time, packaged well and in great shape.
I watched an online video to make sure I knew what I was doing, then got my tools together and went at it.
Out with old and in with the new in less that 20 minutes.
I'm happy the baking element was still available. I found out the broiler element is no longer available. Hopefully, that part continues to operate without issue.
Overall, a great experience. I highly recommend PartSelect.

Great customer service
Received a replacement bake element from PartSelect, Unfortunately, it was delivered damaged. The shipping box had been totally destroyed and the element was bent in a 45 degree. I contacted customer service and they had me forward pictures of the damaged element to them. I immediately received confirmation for their receipt of the pictures and was told a new element was being shipped. 2 days later the element arrived and I installed it in about 20 minutes. Very easy task. Only tool need was a #2 Phillips head screwdriver.

For the love of pizza
I came home to a disappointed wife, a chromatoasted element and no pizza.
It harshed my mellow.
With a model number, a quick search and an order, harmony was restored to the universe, delivered by UPS.
A few screwdrivers and a bit of help from curious cats, the supply of pizza and flow of beer returned to the land.
