no cold water
Reversed hot & cold water hose to make sure it was the water valve first. Removed old water valve, replaced new water valve in its place. Connected wires and hoses. Pressured checked for leaks, done. Note, the part was half price from partselect compared to the store near my house. Also, fast shipping.

Replace power cord that had burned from a small fire
I removed top control panel and then the old power cord that been damaged by a small fire and the just attached the new power cord and control panel. Unblievably simple and I saved myself a lot of money. Where I live in a NYC suburb this type of simple repair could easily cost $100.

it was spinning slowly or not at all
I first changed the belt which helped but it still sounded like it was going to take off through the roof.....I did the pulley and bearing kit in hopes that it would do some good....it went really smoothly with no issues however it did not solve the problem....so it is working and I am going to just ride it out until it quits....thanks

I had cross-threaded one of the water inlet valves when I changed water hoses. Even though it was not leaking, I decided to change out the valve. I had been through a water leak in the house years ago - not fun and very expensive.
It was very simple to change out. I first marked the hoses - hot and cold. Turned off the water supply and unplugged the washer. Disconnected the hoses to the valve, unscrewed the screws holding the valve inplace, drained hose into a bucket, removed clamp and hose from the outlet side of the valve, and removed 2 sets of wires (wrote down the wire color to match the hot/cold hose). To replace was just as simple in reverse order. I made sure to not cross-thread the hose this time. Took less than 15 minutes. If I can do it - anyone can. The part was at my house in just a few days of ordering - great instructions.

Washer made horrible noise when entering the spin cycle.
I removed the cover on the back of the machine, detatched the 2 hoses and removed the 3 screws holding in the Vertical Style Pump - with pulley. These screws are 10 mm nut-driver. The cover if I remember correctly was a standard rather than metric so make sure you have both available.
Screwed new part in, re-attached hoses and replaced cover. The last step requires strength to hold the machine up and re-configure the belt. This is best accomplished by looping it onto the tub and the pump first, the using the tub pulley to maneuver the belt onto the motor.
Only discouragement was that it took 8 days to receive the part as the first shipment was not the correct part at the fault of the distrutor.

Loud grinding noise when I ran the washing machine
It took long because I did not know where the noise is coming from and I took the sides off. I went to the store and bought a new washing machine. Delivery was scheduled in 3 days. I decided to lay the machine on its side and look underneath. I pulled the belt off the 3 pulleys and turned each pulley by hand. The one runing the pump was stiff and noisey. I ordered the part, arrived in 2 days, installed it in 15 minutes and closed the machine in 30 minutes, then cancelled the order of the new machine and saved $500.00

the device that indicates the lid is open/closed malfunctioned due to a forceful slam
After removing defective part and replacing it with the new part, no thanks to skimpy instructions that came with it. We discovered that it wasn't the lid switch assembly but, the hinges and washers? and the little plastic piece that pushes the plunger so we had to order those. Surprised they didnt' come today. The first order came almost the next day.

Washer making noise during cycles
I moved the washer out from the wall. unplugged washer, turned off water. Took off rear plate exposing pump. Disconnected hoses, using dry/wet vac to catch water. Took out three screws holding pump to base of washer and removed pump, belt slipped right off. Set new pump in place and put in screws. Connected hoses, put rear plate back on. Tilted washer back and installed belt on pulleys and motor. Turned on water, plugged in washer, started to wash clothes. Washer works fine and QUIET. I have yet to find the model number on my Maytag washer. I ordered the pump by sight (good pics).

Drain pump making load screeching noise
I pulled washer out and removed filler hoses from water supply and drain hose and tilted it forward placing three short 2X4's under the washer to keep it tilted forward. Removed
back plate with nutdriver. Removed belt from pulley and disconnected the two hoses from pump with pliers. Removed three large screws from pump base with nutdriver and removed old pump. Installed the new pump in reverse order. Quick and fairly easy took about 30 minutes.
