S136 - Instructions

Removed 4 screws under the top unit that holds the stove control knobs. Open oven door for better view. Tilt whole unit (width of stove) up and out of top flange. Remove knobs for timer and the two control knobs (that operate the range burners) nearest the clock. Take out the screws by these knobs, 2 per knob and then you can get the frame that holds clock unit out. Make a drawing of wires to replace on timer unit or as I un plugged one I hooked it up to the new unit. Make sure you have turned off range at your fuse box before working on stove. Works good as new now, I assume it was hit by lighting that also made me replace our garage door opener.

Finding part needed and quick shipping were great. Web site so helpful. Initial attempt to remove old part was troublesome because I took out wrong screws thinking I had to remove parts beneath burner. Once I figured it out, it was so easy.
1. Turn off power.
2. Remove 4 screws BELOW control panel (open oven door to see them)
3. Pull off 7 front knobs.
4. Lift out loosened panel.
5. Take out the two screws holding control switch to front panel. Note orientaion of switch.
6. Replace wire by wire to new switch.
7. Put it all back together. Make sure switch is put in same direction.
8. Turn power on.

Followed the instructions given by Paul from Mickleton, NJ. Very simple, no problem. Using two small blocks of wood to hold spring loaded hinges out while I replaced the door on the hinges was a big help. Thanks for the excellent delivery time. Great service.

Simple, take off the old and put on the new/ Delivery was excellent (next day).

Changing the complete front control module would not have been a hard job but the two screws under the left stove knob would not release and the hex wrench stipped the bolt. I was able to undo both right screws on the right knob, releasing the knob control and the right bracket that holds the center control module. Being careful I pried the two left side tabes on the left bracket allowing me to slide the control module
out. I replaced the module and reversed my steps. The top switch that controls the downdraft and oven light was simple. Remove the two screws that holds the bracket housing the switch. Remove the two hold down compression nuts by prying them up. hold broken switch next to new one and attach the four wires. Replace switch, tried to replace the two compression nuts and after a half hour figure out they are too small. Spen another half hour in assorted nut drawer until I found two small nuts and luckily was able to force thread tham on. I can't believe I saved at least $200.00 in labor doing the repair myself. (and the stove works). I'll be doing my own repairs myself from now on. (Okay, within reason)

removed 4 screws holding entire face plate. Rolled face plate up on top of stove and left all wires attached (many). removed 4 screws adjacent to clock assy. Removed control knob just on either side of clock assy and removed control screws (2 on each). removed wires attached to clock assy and transferred new assy. Re-assembled and set clock time.

Since the motor is larger than the original, remove metal flange; shim one side of housing with 3 washers per screw and reseal..simple! Works great.

Removed the blower assy. Removed the motor. installed the new motor. Reassembled the blower assy. The problem I had was getting the proper clearance for the squirrel cage blower fan to rotate without rubbing on something. I had to make shims for the mounting flanges of the housing to get it to work. Took a lot of head scratching.

Serviceman took out broken glass by removing door and separating front of door from back of door. He carefully removed all broken glass Then replaced with new glass and fastened door together . He did repair in 20 minutes. Oven is like new. Thank you very much for still stocking this part that allows me to keep my oven repaired.

Opened the oven door and locked the spring hinges in the opened position with two 10p nails. Removed the oven door. I dismantled the component parts of the door. I then removed and replaced the broken glass unit,reassembled the door, slid the door onto the hinges, tightened two screws to lock the door in place, removed the 10p nails, closed the door----- and that was it. Less than one hour. The job was accomplished using only a Phillips screwdriver.

blower wheel was caked with dried grease clumps; replaced blower wheel, urethan foam and 3 motor isolators; blower/fan no longer vibrating cooktop.

Using exploded view and previous customers' comments, I disassembled the door. It was primarily a matter of finding all the screws. I recommend taking the door off first (I didn't), but watch your fingers. The hinges have very, very strong springs and you can hurt your or your helper's fingers if you're not prepared. The hardest part was keeping all the insulation in place while your're installing the assembly. I also replaced the gasket. That takes four hands, two to hold the gasket in place and two to reinstall the window assembly. To put the door back on the hinges, I pulled them out from the door at a 45-degree angle (takes some effort), put screwdrivers through holes in the hinges, and guided (with help) the door back on.

Motor (Blower Motor Kit) Part Number: PS1569907
No instructions are included in the package from PartSelect. Disassembly from the main housing was relatively simple. I found that paying VERY careful attention to how the original motor was wired and mounted would pay off in correct re-assembly, conquering motor vibration and rubbing. Most of my project time was spent cleaning the rotating blade wheel from 20 years of grease build-up. On tools, I would have appreciated the inclusion, or availability as an accessory, of a long-stem correct-size allen wrench (used in removal of the fan blade wheel.) The job went well, and probably saved me $200 in service call and labor.

First we had to remove the screws holding the frame of the oven door together where the glass goes. We slipped the glass into the space inside the door frame, screwed on the handle, closed the frame and replaced the screws. It was simple, quick, and it looks great!!

Removed all terminals and block mounting screws. Repaired one burnt terminal and reassembled. Replacement part was an exact fit and reassembly whnet very well.
