JVM1790BKC - Instructions

Unscrewed one screw that held the bulb cover over the bulb. Removed the cover, removed the bulb, inserted new bulb, replaced cover, replaced the retaining screw.

Just pulled off the cover, removed the old latch, re-connected the spring...put it all back togeather. Everything just snapps back in. The entire repair took about two minutes. Very easy.

Removed one screw, removed cover, and replaced lamp. Pretty straightforward.

I attached the mounting plate to the wall as directed in the installation instructions which I had downloaded from GE. This procedure took 45 minutes to complete. I was then able to mount the microwave.

Looked on line and found a you tube that said to check the door micro switches (there are three of them. Found one of the switches had an actuator that was stuck down. I got the actuator working but problem was still present. Another you tube showed how to repair the contacts in the switch and that solved the problem. however the plastic piece that holds the switches was broken and would not hold the switches securely. Ordered that piece and a new switch. Remove the vent plate on top (one phillips) and the control panel (one phillips). The switch holder is held in place with 2 phillips and is a little tricky to get it out and undo the wires. Once out, it's just a matter of putting the switches into the new holder and reinstalling it. Google the model number and the problem and there's virtually a you tube to repair ANYTHING.

It is easy to repair the burnt out bulb if one has the correct bulb. Your website is very user friendly and your service is great. I was not able to replace the bulb at this time because our RV is at the repair shop for some other matters. I am sure the installation of the new bulb will go smoothly. Thanks for asking. Opened cover, pulled out old bulb, inserted new one, put cover back on. I was out of town when bulbs arived, my wife put it in. She said it was easy.

Easy to repair. One screw, remove bulbs, replace with new ones, secure screw.

Everything worked on the display light inside worked but when you closed the door and set time it would start counting down but not heating nor would the turntable turn. Started reading troubleshooting chart and first thing I did was removed the cover and checked door switches and found primary door switch wasn't working so I ordered a new one installed it and it worked. Anyone doing this has to be very careful because of the stored energy in the capacitor is strong enough to kill.
My micro is only 2 years old so I was hoping it wasn't anything major.

Ordered the part. 2 days later part arrives. Took me 30 seconds to install the part. Sorry it was not more eventful.

We had our kitchen remodeled; new cabinets, countertop, range, refigerator, microwave, dishwasher and floor.

The cabinets around the microwave were custom made; it looks great but it hid the screws, which had to be unscrewed to remove the grill so the interior light of the microwave could be replaced.

A stand was used to support the microwave as I lowered it so the screws could exposed so the light could be replaced.

The light was replaced, the microwave was raised back into place and all is well. I replaced the bulb while my wife was out of town. When she returned she noticed that the microwave was nice and clean; she was NOT aware of the fact that the bulb was replaced!

Just placed it in microwave

All I needed to do was replace the bulb in our microwave. But, the bulb for this unit (Kenmore Elite, which I traced to being manufactured by LG) was one I had replaced before, several times, with the closest thing I could find at the local big box stores. That bulb type matched (pin size) but wattage was a little lower which I didn't think would be a problem. However, those bulbs burned out in a month or two. So, I ordered bulbs from PartSelect that were OEMs that exactly matched the original specs. So far so good. Be aware if you are replacing a microwave bulb & are not finding an exact match at your local hardware store.

Took off plastic around inside the door , took broken latch off and put spring on new latch on plactic on and it works . ????

I was surprised to find that the turntable for my 10 year old GE Profile microwave/convection oven was not readily available at my local GE retailer. I ordered the part from this website hoping that my order would be filled. I received an immediate response from customer service and the part was on my front doorstep in under 1 week!
