Old plastic ring was damaged due to leaking icemaker causing door to open when ice dispensed.
No tool required! Pulled out tray, emptied ice into large bowl for reuse. Pushed in and pulled from inside the coil springed auger until could get old plastic ring off and put new one on. Useing care not to apply too much pressure to ice dispensing end so as not to break housing. Have to turn auger assembly at an angle to compress enough and get old ring off. Needs a little physical strenth & care not to force plastic housing to breaking point. Worked great reused saved ice. Took less than 10 minutes
Replaced filter with by-pass plug. For some reason though, ice maker does no longer functions, although there is flow out of the cold water tap. Is the design of the bypass plug such that, when installed, it impedes flow to the ice-maker?
Melt down of part from over heating of selonoid from moisture getting into circuit board. I had to replace those also.
Take off cover plate. two screws. Take out three screws holding the bracket. Exchange the parts from old bracket to the new bracket. reinstall the bracket and cover.
seloniod failed and ice maker only made crushed ice
Removed screw onder on left side of ice maker shelf. Then removed shelf while disconnecting the wires behind. Removed selonoid and yolk and simply reinstalled in reverse order. The customer service was great because I first ordered the wrong part and was easily returned and correct part sent. If you are ordering and have questions call them. If you sense your agent doesnt have the full knowkedge you need I would ask for another one. This is why my original part was wrong. They handled my problem and I was pleased. Alan
I pulled the drive ring off of the icemaker and replaced it with the new part. Saved a $150 service call plus cost of part. It cost me a little over $11.00 and a repairman probably would have charged $30.
All work was done by hand. I removed the cover plate, unscrewed the existing water filter and screwed in the new one. I returned the cover plate to its original position and bled the air out of the line by running the water dispenser for a few minutes. It could no have been easier.
