GBS18HBPAWW General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

Removed screws underneath gasket, one side of door at a time, and replaced gasket.

Water was leaking from under the GE dishwasher, but once we pulled it out, had apparently been going on for a little while. Turning the water off to the dishwasher made it stop, so it was happening even when the unit was not running, potentially indicating somewhere early in the path of the water to and into the machine.

Indeed, inspecting the water inlet vale showed a slow leak. Getting the replacement part was fine, and it fit the electrical, water inlet (existing 90-degree water inlet elbow), and water outlet connections just fine - but the original machine screws that held on the original water inlet valve did not work. It took a little research to figure out the new type of screw required, which was apparently a 10/16 Type AB, which seemed to be a less common type of sheet metal screw (with a point), as opposed to the original flat-ended machine screws. So, after ordering those separately (which were a bit expensive), it went together fine.

A note on the water inlet valve part just indicating the the threading on those parts has changed over time, so potentially ordering the screws to attach it might be worthwhile, would be good information to add about the water inlet valve.

Unplug the refrigerator removed the condenser/ compressor cover back bottom on fridge, remove the relay from the compressor took off the two wires, replace with new relay

Turned off water supply, removed bottom rear metal panel,with a towel to catch water pushed in and removed water line from double water outlet, removed metal clamp and then grommet tube assembly from top right rear of refrigerator. Then I put in new grommet tube assembly, turned on my water and checked for leaks.

Used nut driver to remove two screws at top of tube, and the three screws holding composite cover on back of fridge. Pulled out the upper portion of tube, pulled up on fitting and removed lower portion of tube. Put upper spout portion of new supply tube into position, replaced two screws, pushed lower portion of tube into locking fitting on supply valve solenoid. Replaced composite cover with three screws, and was done. Entire job took less than 5 minutes. It took longer for me to find my nut driver set, than it took to do the repair. I ordered the part online, and it was delivered to my door in a lightning fast 36 hours. Hopefully I won't ever need any more appliance parts, but with your easy to navigate website, fast shipping, and fair prices, you have won me over as a customer. Unplugged refrigerator. Removed relay by unclipping wire and pulling relay off compressor. Looked-up part number and ordered part. Replaced part and plugged in refrigerator.

Had to get behind the refrigerator and clean the drain out first and that took at least and hour. Just unplug the old motor. Took the old parts of the old motor, put them on the new one and plugged it back in.
