5GX0FHTXAF01 Whirlpool Refrigerator - Instructions

Removed the lid and pantry drawer. Removed crisper drawer on right side and glass shelve. Removed 2 screws on glide. Removed 2 nuts with nut driver. Gently tugged on the pantry end cap and it released from the back wall. Had to rotate about 90 degrees to remove the extension off the back wall so I could remove the thermostat control arm from old piece and put it onto the new piece. Gently removed the thermostat control through a series of squeezing pieces and rotations. Do not force anything. Take your time as you are working with plastic that could break at any moment with force. Replace in reverse order.

DEFROSTED REFRIGERATOR COILS, BUT DIDN'T REPLACE THE GROMMET.

I removed the drawers above and the glass shelf, then removedthe screws to remove the broken end cap then reversed the proceedure to install the new part. Was simple to do and it works fine.

I watched a 5-minute YouTube video ordered the part. It was delivered fast and it took me about 30 minutes to put it on.

AS PER A VERY GOOD VIDEO I FOUND SIMPLY BY SEARCHING FOR THE PART NUMBER. IT MAY HAVE BEEN ON THIS SITE. SADLY, THE PUSHING ON THE CONNECTOR WITH THE 1/2" WRENCH LOOKED A LOT EASIER IN THE VIDEO, OTHERWISE EASY PEAZY AND I HAVE VERY PAINFUL ARTHRITIS IN MY SHOULDERS.

When I received the gasket I laid it out on the floor in a spare room not too far from a heat register to let it straighten out. (If it were summer or sunny weather here I would have laid it out in the sun.) My adult son did the repair - it was very easy to pull out the old gasket and to gently clean the edges with a scraper to prepare for the new install. He followed instructions and other tips but the first section took a while before it would stay inserted. Once it did though, the rest of the gasket snapped in very quickly. I am happy the seal is much improved.

No product was sent in the box for the shaft I received an empty box from them cannot perform any repairs because I got no product from this company. Called customer service said due to Covid no customer service available when online and receive no customer service no refund no product no help

Actually shouldn't you have included installation instructions with the product?
I had to search for installation instructions on Utube or the job would have ended in another cracked crisper frame.

I followed the video provided by Part Select. I also let the refrigerator stay unplugged overnight with all the doors open. This p-trap kit has fixed the leaks out of the front of the refrigerator. There is no ice build-up in the freezer. Perfect!

This is a simple repair, the gasket is pressed into a groove in the door and only needs to be eased out (pulled) by hand and the new gasket pressed back into place by hand. Starting the installation in one upper corner to make alignment easy. The side of the gasket with the table face center. For this model remember the doors are not symmetrical and the gaskets are a different size for each door. The gaskets come folded which puts a kink in the gasket. I set them out in the warm sun to straighten out before installing.

Disconnect plug from wall. Insert putty knife between light switch.and trim panel , apply pressure to depress plastic spring holding switch in place. Apply a slight twist too putty knife releasing switch from trim piece. This wil expose plug connected to switch. Disconnect plug from switch. Connect new switch to plug. Insert switch into trim. Plug refrigerator into wall socket.

The instructions in the package were not helpful. They wanted me to cut the wiring harness and described where to cut based on the wire colors. My wires were not the same color! I removed the light mechanism using a combination of a screwdriver, putty knife, and plain old muscle with my fingers! The wiring harness unplugged easily and the new one inserted. It was easy to push the whole assembly back into the door. I spent more time looking for something to cut the wiring harness with (and never did find it) than the whole job actually took without needing to cut anything!

Changed the ice and Water filter, works great...

I have to say this was the smoothest repair ever! It was easy to find on the site, ordering was easy, part came, snapped off, snapped on new drawer, FINISHED! Thank you!
