upper portion of 2-piece agitator didn't spin

Popped the agitator cap with a flathead screwdriver. Removed the dust cap, tearing the o-ring in the process. Removed the bolt that holds the agitator in place, removed the whole agitator. Pulled the top portion of the agitator off, removed the dog housing and all pieces of the broken dog pieces. Replaced them, and put it all back together in reverse order. The old lint filter was worn, and would "pop up" so that clothes weren't being moved about during the wash and rinse cycles. If I didn't frequently push it down again, it would fly off during a spin cycle. Dangerous!

I simply lifted the lint filter and its cap off, pressed the new agitator cap onto the new lint filter and put the assemblage into place. No tools needed at all. A $50 dollar repair saved me from replacing my washer/dryer! I'm very pleased. Read more...
