Wall Oven Temperature Sensor

This genuine OEM oven probe is also known as an oven temperature sensor or range probe. This part is manufactured for a range, stove, or oven to detect the temperature within the oven cavity. The probe allows the oven to maintain the set temperature by sensing the temperature and sending the information to the ovens motherboard. You may need to replace this part if oven is not heating or is heating unevenly. Be sure to disconnect power to oven before replacing, as it is an electrical part. Tools needed are 1/4 inch nut driver and needle nose pliers.

After reading all of the instructions for adjusting the temperatures, the only temp that stays steady is when we first turn on the oven to 350 degrees. This oven temperature sensor, for ranges, works together with the oven control board to measure and regulate the oven temperature. The sensor detects the temperature in the oven cavity. If the following symptoms occur, replacing the temperature sensor could be the solution: Little or no heat when baking, oven not heating evenly, oven will not start, and/or oven is overheating. Often, if the sensor is defective, the oven temperature will fluctuate and be inaccurate by more than 50 degrees. The tool needed for this replacement is a #2 square head screwdriver or a #2 Philips screwdriver. Remember to unplug the range before installing the part.

temperature not accurate after 3 1/2 years of happy usage
Opened up the back of the stove. Unpluged the sensor. Replaced the sensor. Replace the back of the stove.The sensor that has been replaced is not what is expected. I had to splice wires since new probe ends did not match up.
the instructions were to splice the wires. I had the breaker off for about 3 hours. this is not in the instructions, but being a widow, I had to ask a few people why it would not come on after I connected the wires.

The function of the oven temperature sensor assembly is to measure the temperature inside your oven while it is on and send the temperature back up to the electronic control, which adjusts as necessary. Oven would go in to a F2 Error
Removed six 1/4" hex nuts on rear of oven. Then through front/inside removed a single 1/4" hex nut to actually remove sensor. Unplug sensor connector, remove. Reversed steps, push oven back in place and plugged in. Tested oven function.

If the temperature sensor does not fit you will have to cut off the quick connect, and then wire together with porcelain wire nuts. The function of the oven temperature sensor is to measure the temperature in the oven and signal the other heating components. Before you begin this repair make sure to disconnect the power to the range. Oven not heating to desired temperature
Replaced clock control by removing surface burner control knobs and plastic nuts, and then the cover over the oven control. Two screw hold the clock in place, after removal and disconnecting the plug-in you can reinstall the new clock control. The Heat Sensor inside the oven will also need to be replaced. It is located inside the oven and attached with two screws; the back of the oven will need to be removed to unplug. Reverse removal procedure and turn the power back on to the stove.

This long oven sensor is also commonly known as a temperature sensor. It is designed for use with ovens and ranges. It is similar to a thermostat; it measures and regulates the internal temperature of your oven cavity. There is an adapter at one end, a probe at the other, and they are connected by an insulated wire. The probe is approximately 7 inches long. You can test the sensor with a multi-meter for functionality. You need to check the model-specific manual to determine what the proper resistance is for your specific appliance. Oven not holding 350 F, when cooling the coils did not reheat
Removed the oven door by opening slightly, then pic door up to remove. Remove 2 screws holding oven sensor in place, gently pull on sensor to remove, had to remove about 8 inches to get at plastic connector. Unplug connector, had to use an adapter cable supplied with the PartSelect kit to install new sensor, push cable back into opening, reinstall 2 screws. The oven works fine! Note that due to thermal lag the temperature overshoots to 370 degrees and undershoots to 340 degrees, this appears to be normal oven operation. Putting door back in place was easy.

Wall Oven Range Temperature Sensor
The baking element was easier than the sensor. Removed the 2 screws holding the element into the back bottom of the oven, and pulled the element forward to disconnect from clamps. Inserted new element into clamps and screwed it in. ***NOTE that there will be a smell from the new element. This smell is normal. Over heating oven and uneven baking. Oven thought it was in self cleaning mode.
Sensor replacement was removing 2 screws and gently pulling on old sensor until the clip comes out. Secured the other end of the wires so that it did not fall back inside. Then connected the new sensor clip to the oven wire, then gently returning wire into oven, and then screwing the sensor into place. The baking element was easier than the sensor. Removed the 2 screws holding the element into the back bottom of the oven, and pulled the element forward to disconnect from clamps. Inserted new element into clamps and screwed it in. ***NOTE that there will be a smell from the new element. This smell is normal. Wall Oven Range Oven Temperature Sensor

This is a range temperature sensor, used to detect the interior temperature of your oven when it is baking or cooking. If you notice your oven is baking unevenly or at inconsistent temperatures, will not start or has too little or too much heat, it is likely that the temperature sensor is bad, or defective. This temperature sensor features a 3.9-inch-long probe, 3.2-inch-long wire harness, and 1.7-inch-wide support bracket. Replacing this sensor is fairly simple but will require a screwdriver, wrench and drill with the appropriate Philips-head bit. Disconnect your range from the wall outlet and pull it out from the wall. Removing your range door is not necessary, but will make removing the sensor that much easier. You will now locate your temperature sensor, which will likely be near the heating element at the top/bottom of the oven. Remove any securing screws holding the heating element and/or sensor in place. At the rear of the range, disconnect and remove the rear panel to gain access to the electronics of the range. Disengage the sensor and its locking tabs, and may also require you to disconnect the terminals for the heating element if your temperature sensor is fastened to it. Remove the sensor and heating element (if necessary). If the sensor is connected to the heating element, use a wrench to unfasten it. Now you install the new temperature sensor and reassemble your oven, ensuring that wire terminals are connected correctly.

Oven would not heat consistently
My barely 4 year old Samsung range/oven began not heating consistently. Even though it said 350, for example, we had to increase to 465 to get it to bake. Thought it was the temperature sensor. Ordered and installed new one easily. That didn't solve the problem. So, rather than throw more money at parts that may not have resolved the issue, I got a new Amana range. Samsung appliances go to my 'do not buy' list along with LG!
