This drain pump is used in dishwashers to remove water from the dishwasher tub. If the impeller in the dishwasher is damaged or the motor has been shorted out and will not drain, it is possible the body is cracked, causing leakage. To prevent this from happening, replace the drain pump. The tools needed for this installation are: Phillips screwdriver, 5/16 inch nut driver, 5/8 inch wrench, and a flathead screwdriver. First remove the water from the dishwasher pan that would not drain with a wet/dry vac. Otherwise the water will all drain on the floor when you remove the pump. Then remove the two screws on the kickplate on the front of the unit below the door. Remove the kickplate/maintainence access cover. The drain pump is on the right about 8 inches in. Using two hands you grasp the drain pump with your right hand and use the left hand to push the retaining clip down. Then the drain pump will rotate 1/4 turn counterclockwise and can be removed without pulling the dishwasher out. There is likely to be some water leak out that was traped in the pump housing that you can not reach with the vac. Disconnect the wire. Connect the wire to the new pump, put it in place and 1/4 turn clockwise to install it. Replace the kickplate and you're done.

1) Remove top and bottom dish baskets from the dishwasher, this will give you room to work. To remove top basket there are clips at the end of the slide rails.
2) Remove lower spray arm by unscrewing plastic screw, it should only be hand tight.

Unclip this tube from the top and middle clips and then work it out of the strainer assembly tube. Now you should be able to remove the tube at the bottom of the dishwasher by unscrewing it 1/4 turn.
4) Remove the strainer cover by unscrewing the 4 Torqs screws.
5) You will now see two smaller torqs screws that hold the hold the Chopper Assembly cover down. Take these two screws out and remove the two piece cover.
6) Pull out the broken Chopper Assembly, make sure you get all the pieces!
7) Install the new Chopper Assembly. Make sure that you install the Assembly with the small part of the screen towards the bottom of the housing. Also make sure you compress the spring as you install the part. I used a small pair of neddle nose pliers to compress the spring behind the screen in order to install the chopper assembly.
8) Put everything back together and make sure it works!

orking room. Drain hose was plenty long on my washer so didn't have to disconnect. Before laying on side, I disconnected the lower and upper spray units. Lower spinner is attached with a hand tightened screw in the middle of spayer. This is a left hand thred. So I had to turn it to the right to loosen. The upper spray unit is simply removed by uncliping the clips from the long flat tube that runs from the lower unit to the top. There is a set of clips in the back of the tub and a set on top. After the clips are free, turn the flat tube to your right to unlock from the bottom spinning unit. Remove and lay the washer on its side. Also before I did that I unhooked the springs at the bottow of the door so to free the door from springing back up after opening the door while on side. Good idea too to have some towels handy to absorb spilled water from the washer. I used one under the open door while on side to protect the door and floor. There are three wire disconnects under the washer that hooks to the motor, etc. There are three vinal wedges that secure the motor and punp into the bottom of the tub. Remove them, disconnect the outer pump from the motor (made it easier for me to remove the unit through the hole in the bottom of the tub. This is a little tricky. Disconnect by turning the small pump to the end of the motor to your left to unlock. The small pump is a little stubborn to losen, but will break loose with presure persistence. After removing, simply push the whole unit up through the bottom of the tub to remove. Now you are ready to reinstall everything in reverse order. It is a good idea to have someone to assist with installing the motor and punp in the tub. I securely pressed it into the hole and the second person press the vinal wedges back into the bottom of the tub to secure the unit. Putting it all back together from there was a snap.
A big plus is the quick delivery. Regular delivery 3 - 5 days will do. I ordered my parts one day and received them the next by Fedx. Didn't even pay the extra for next day delivery. Everything worked perfectly. Just like a new one again. Very happy with the helps posted and service and parts provided by PartSelect.

SAFTY: Turn water off. Flip the circuit breaker.
PREPARE FOR REMOVAL: Unscrew / Remove kickplate. Disconnected water connect just behind the kickplate. Be ready with a couple of dishtowels. Pull the door down and remove any screws that go into the under part of your counter top. Jack the front legs screw down.

Push the insulation flat against the side of the dishwasher about every six inches that you pull the dishwasher out to prevent it from snaggin on the cabinet face edges. Remove the baskets and spray arms. Careful not to damage the heating element.
NOTE: Here I noticed that the guy who installed the dishwasher kinked the copper line limiting the water into to my dishwasher. So my circulation pump/motor was probably running dry. I replaced with a flex type "dishwasher" hose that will easily coil up behind / underneath without kinking when I push back in. DO THE REPAIR RIGHT - DO IT YOURSELF!
REPAIR: I gently laid the dishwasher on it's side (cardboard underneath). I disconnected the power - 2 wires. Then, I only disconnect one wire harness, the sump tubing and the I thought I'd better remove the impeller that the sump tubing was connected to (it was only attached with one screw). Remove the 3 plastic clips around the pump/motor. Carefully push the pump into the dishwasher. DO NOT LET THE PUMP FALL AS IT MAY DAMAGE THE HEATING ELEMENT IN THE DISHWASHER! Push the new pump/motor in place until the seal is at least flush with the bottom. I used the back of a wood spoon. Don't pull on any part of the motor from the bottom or you'll break the thin aluminum casting. Just inserting the plastic clips back in place will pull the seal flush with the bottom again.
I was lucky. I simply removed the motor/pump, replaced it with the new motor/pump, and put everything back together in reverse. I put a little bit of silicone grease on the o-ring of the temperature probe. I happened to have some silicone grease because I also have a pool.
Done. It cost me $220 Vs. $550 quoted by Sears. That doesn't count the extra Sears would have charged my for repairing the kinked copper line. And you know they would've kinked it again. That only cost me $20 more and the flexible line couldn't have been easier to install. I could have done the whole thing for less but I opted to replace the pump/ motor together.
Getting it all done right, no leaks, no kinked line, keeping the dishwasher that matches the other appliances (VS. replacing it at $550 repair price), all less than 1/2 the price of a quoted repair - PRICELESS. - THANK YOU PART SELECT. DISCLAIMER: I have no affiliation with Part Select.

Dishwasher was leaking from bottom
After determining that the leak was coming basically from the motor shaft I googled until I thought I could handle it, took it apart to confirm I could get it apart (I thought it might be too stuck and I might need the whole motor thing) and then ordered the kit.
I don't think this could be done with the dishwasher in place, so ... Read more I turned the water off to the unit and unplugged it. I had previously removed the front bottom cover plates (4 screws). I opened the front, removed the lower dish rack and unscrewed it from the bottom side of the counter, disconnected the water supply and drain line, then wiggled it out being careful of the insulation sheets, hoses, etc. Note, water drains everywhere. I had some baking pans to contain and paper towels to wipe but still, be safe / prepared.
I disconnected everything from the motor / impeller housing area, then went inside the unit and loosened the lock ring thing around the base of whatever you call the spinning arm / sprayer, it took a little effort, might be easier to try this when it is still mounted to the counter. After that main ring was removed the housing with the motor and everything just wiggled free.
I unscrewed the motor's 3 Torx screws, and then the unscrewed the plastic "X" at the end opposite the motor, the brass weight pulls straight off and the impeller is supposed to come off too. Mine was stuck like many I read about. I drilled a hole in the end of the plastic impeller and drove the motor shaft out with a punch and hammer, it worked pretty slick. Then I carefully pried out the last seal and stopped for a cold beverage, major success.
I carefully pushed the new seal into the housing, reattached the motor to the housing, pushed on the other new seals, the impeller, the new brass weight in the same order the old ones were, and screwed on the "X" on the end as snug as I could. Then I carefully reattached the motor and housing to the bottom of the dishwasher, ensuring good solid seals and tightening that big ring again from the inside as snug as I could get it, carefully hooked everything on the bottom back up basically in the reverse of disassembly, put the unit back under the counter, plugged it in, turned the water back on to it, loaded it and tested it. I was fortunate enough to not have it leak anywhere, after 3 or 4 loads I reattached the bottom trim pieces and checked this off my list.
Also, would love to mention that your site is great, the parts were priced attractively, they arrived very quickly and were a snap to install.

Lower sprayarm nut stripped + broken inside Pump outlet
You WILL need a star-tip screwdriver for this COMMON DU915 repair. We already had one.
The plastic "wing" nut which keeps the lower sprayarm attached to the pump assembly cracked inside where the threading on each part meets. Have been reattaching the nut to the Pump outlet for a year or so with super glue and finally found PartSelec ... Read more t.com. My husband had to fix this with a star screwdriver and vice grips (and he is super strong)-- otherwise an easy fix using just the manual supplied by the manufacturer. I just noticed the virtual repairman feature on partselect but we didn't need to go there.
The starhead screws that hold the pump outlet in place were on super tight. Other than that, no problem. It has been a week and the dishwasher works like new.
I ordered the parts online at 9pm at night and had the parts in my mailbox the next day - LESS than 24 hours later. How is that even possible?
Just ask anyone who knows me...I am NOT easy to please when it comes to customer service in any realm of the retail world - I have to say without any doubt PartSelect is the BEST experience I've had in my entire shopping life.
